Some idiot hit my wife's minivan. So we need a new one. Our previous Minivan was a 2012 Town and Country fully loaded, paid off and still up to date 7 years later (Not happy to lose it).

The wife wants another minivan so I'm not looking for other suggestions. Also we are buying not lease.

Price range is 45k or less

Ghey

Mini vans are much better than the crappy SUV's most soccer mom's drive.

The interior layout is much nicer.

My wife thinks the Honda pilot is "cooler", but it is not. They are the same coolness as a minivan.

Yeah...chrysler is human feces...had a town and country..constant caliper locking up...probably due to how they do the emergency brakes ...thats what my mechanic says...I got rid of it after the third caliper.

We had the T&C and had some major stuff go out. It also wouldn't start randomly sometimes. So while I'm glad to be rid of that issue it was paid off and only 55k miles.

Does it hurt that your wife is more of a man than you?

Driving an SUV does not make someone manly, just the opposite.

There are some exceptions of course: 4runner, Tahoe, etc. These are slightly less girly.

We are at the Toyota dealership right now. Trying to get them to get closer to the Honda in price.

Let the salesman break it in with your wife and he’ll get to the Honda price.

We walked out Toyota was just too far above the Honda.

We bought a used 2012 T&C when it had 29K miles on it.  It now has 130K and is still going strong.  No mechanical issues at all.

We bought my wife a Subaru recently and gave that van to my MIL.  Technically, I still own it, but she’s using it daily.

Honda’s and Toyotas are best mechanically but they’re just not comfortable for anyone over 6’ tall.

have you attempted leveraging Toyota vs Toyota?

"Hey, I really like this car. I will give my business to the dealership who provides me with the best price.  What's your best offer?"

Are you with a credit union?  They can have very good car buying services.

Or insurance agency?

I have bought two via my credit union (my best deals).

My current one was via USAA.  I was able to actually go $1500 lower than what USAA negotiated.

During negotiations, did you ask about adding the family stick figures, or do you plan to wait till after the price is set?

Won’t ever get a minivan. SUV definitely. But if I had to pick one I’d pick the Toyota. Their vehicles are always reliable. Love my tundra and dad likes mine so much he bought him one

Been happy with our Honda. Will probably retire it in a couple years once our youngest is done with school.  You can pack a ton of stuff in there. Can't imagine moving kids to/from college without it.

That comes standard. Upgrading to the Star wars or zombie figures is extra though.

Good info.

How far apart in price are the Honda and Toyota? Which does your wife prefer?

We had two Toyota options:

New 2020 Toyota 46k

New "used" (driven by the regional manager) Toyota $42k 12k miles

Honda $38k

Ouch. The Toyota must be top of the line.

That’s a substantial difference.

How about the financing terms?

Assuming those are close or equal I’d go with the Honda

Unless the Toyota includes the "blow job attachment" you should definitely go with the Honda.  Not like them young b1tches are going to throw themselves at you based on your choice in minivan.

Toyota was 1.9 for 60 months on both

Honda is 2.9 for 60 months

Let me add the Toyota is a trim class higher than the Honda, however, both have the same features we care about.

I might have missed it, but how many kids do you have and what are their ages?  What trim features are you focused on?

We bought our Honda Odyssey used and it came with DVD package.  Was good when kids were little, but nowadays all you need is a tablet to keep the little fockers entertained.

3 between the ages 1-10

Our old T&C had a DVD package, but we only used it during the very few long trips we take. I agree a tablet is a suitable substitute.

I'm a believer that Toyota is far and away the best when it comes to reliability.

Has to have sliding doors. It's a must for us with young kids.
