John Hughes writer/director of Breakfast Club

Recommended Posts

Has he been shamed by the woke on twitter or anywhere else? Or are people only allowed to go back through your twitter/facebook history and not your movie directing history?

Within the 1st 5 minutes of The Breakfast Club, the word F@G is written on a locker and proudly shown in the movie, it has not been scribbled through yet. About 20 minutes in, someone calls someone else a F@GGOT! :o  I watched in horror, I cried, i wept. How can this be allowed?

Have the wokes not been alerted?

I still love his films despite the problems with it. Back then we (yes me) used the f-g word. It didn't mean gay it meant, lame.

I had this argument with my kids mother last night, she is 37. I'm like, when we said F@G as kids, it was not in any way a dig at homosexuals. jesus, stop thinking everything is about something else. just a focking meaningless word sometimes

No way they could have done those movies today.

Bender goes between Molly Ringwald's thighs under the desk in Breakfast Club

Geek has drunken sex (no way there was consent) with the hot chick in a Rolls Royce in Sixteen Candles

Just to name a couple...

Unfortunately, I still call my friend a "homo" followed by "not that there is anything wrong with that".  I know my kids use inappropriate terms too.  I guess we are not really politically correct in my house.

My son does 2 days of after school care with the YMCA. Went to pick him up one night and a group of 5th graders were just swearing like truck drivers, calling each other f@g and homo left and right. I thought times had changed? I guess you just can't say those words on social media

Never did I think it would be considered rape for sexy ass Michael Schoeffling to take advantage of his drunk girlfriend. I figured nothing really happened between Anthony Michael Hall and the prom queen, but both were just too drunk to realize nothing happened. That was my take anyway.

That's the problem right there. Sexy ass?  If he looks like Drobeski it's rape?  How is that fair?

Has anyone heard the new “baby it’s cold outside” song by John Legend?

I really can't stay (baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to go away (but, I can call you a ride)
This evening has been (I'm so glad you that you dropped in)
So very nice (time spent with you is paradise)
My mom will start to worry (I'll call the car and tell him to hurry)
My daddy will be pacing the floor (wait, what are you still livin' home for?)
So, really, I'd better scurry (your driver, his name is Murray)
But maybe just a half a drink more (oh, we're both adults, so who's keepin' score)
What will my friends think? (I think they should rejoice)
If I have one more drink? (It's your body and your choice)
Ooh you really know how (your eyes are like starlight now)
To cast a spell (one look at you and then I fell)
I ought to say, "No, no, no, sir" (then you really ought to go, go, go)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (well, Murray, he just pulled up outside)
I really can't stay
(I understand, baby)
Baby, it's cold outside
I simply should go (text me when you get home)
Oh, I'm supposed to say no (mm, I guess that's respectable)
This welcome has been (I feel lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (but you better go before it storms)
My sister will be suspicious (well, gosh your lips look delicious)
My brother will be there at the door (oh, he loves my music, baby, I'm sure)
My gossipy neighbor's vicious (I'm a genie, tell me what your wish is)
But maybe just a cigarette more (oh, that's somethin' we should probably explore)
I've got to get home (oh, baby, I'm well aware)
Say, lend me a coat (oh, keep it girl, I don't care)
You've really been grand (I feel good to touch me hands)
Don't you see? (I want you to stay, it's not up to me)
There's bound to be talk tomorrow (well, they can talk, what do they know)
At least there will be plenty implied (oh, let their mind do this, and-)
Ma'am, I really can't stay
Baby, just go
It's cold, baby
It's cold, baby
But, ooh, I don't wanna go
It's cold outside

The song ends after the second line because after he says "but, I can call you a ride", she'll say "thanks, see you later".  /song.

I think the key was that they were a couple so back then I wouldn't consider it rape. I guess for me, even today knowing the modern conception of rape, I still find it hard to consider your married partner or your significant other a rapist if they had sex with you when you were drunk. I know that is not politically correct to say, but I would only consider it rape if it were a violent attack from my partner. Yes, rape if it's someone I didn't know or someone that was not my sexual partner because they are taking advantage of my ability not to think clearly and give consent. If you are my husband and boyfriend, we're already having sex. It's not a violation, imo.

The attractiveness wasn't what made it right or wrong. It was the relationship of the couple.

ETA,
I've never had that happen to me.

The Breakfast Club is a great movie...  Interesting to hear things like that what was ad-libbed and that they shot the film in sequence...

He's talking about stick, an old poster here. He went on a rant about how it's impossible to rape your wife. That comment got dug up by some media when he became a Texas legislator. There was some media about what a vile bunch we are.

Stickland I think was his name. You can Google it.

or even worse, feeling the victim in assuming someone else is butthurt by something.

My biggest gripe about SJW's is they often get mad for other people that were potentially offended, without even knowing if the person was actually offended. :wall:

Someone says something about so and so, twitter mob goes apeshit, so and so not even offended.

Mark Knopfler based that song on a real life experience in a department store. He said the worker who was moving appliances actually said "See the little motherphucker...", but Knopler thought that would be too crude and would be censored, so he changed it to the relatively harmless "f@ggot". 😅
