Just watched X and it was good…

I am currently 40 minutes into Pearl and I really hope it gets better because it is really boring so far…

Stick with it and report back, please

I love horror. :)

The Witch is one of my absolute favorites and I can watch it over and over and over.

Not a huge fan of the torture type horror, like I don't care for the Saw movies or the Spit on Your Grave series, those just creep me out.

Big fan of the Conjuring universe, Insidious movies - although the newest one The Red Door was meh. I like some Stephen King stuff, but the ones that have the underlying stories or messages like Gerald's Game, or 1922. Old school King is awesome; Thinner, Christine...I watch those every October along with the Halloween movies. Not a big Jason/Freddie fan for some reason.

Loved The Black Phone. Also love the Babadook. There are a ton more, but given the chance for a chick flick, action, or horror...I'll chose horror almost every time.

I'm just the opposite, but worse.  I'll watch Conjuring etc., but, I love Saw type and I can recite the story completely through all 12 Friday the 13th movies.  I cant figure out why somebody doesnt jump on the 13th Friday the 13th.

Are you one of those people that doesn’t realize it’s a feminist movie?

It’s not a feminist movie, come off it. It’s a shock film for people who like other movies that feature rape and taboo material. I don’t judge but cut the crap.

Wrong. It is a feminist revenge flick. The shock is to demonstrate the depravity of man

You didnt read it did you. Shocker.

The article puts it at 50% any time soon. But in 53 years its public domain.  Never is 0%.

That being said, if LeBum making it, I'd prefer to wait 53 years.

I read it, and then offered my opinion, which differs from the other guys opinion. Fock man do you have to act like a complete all the time?

I must say that ending was something else (after The End)…

The monologue to Mitzy when Pearl was going was very very good…

X was the better of the two, but it was better in the second part …

Agreed on those being the best parts. I liked it more than you overall but I also almost walked away about 40 minutes in. Ti West movies are always slow burns but that one was exceptionally long for the payoff!

Agreed for sure…  I probably would have bailed if you had not said to keep going…. Thanks for telling me to hang in there…

You sir are my new favorite vertically challenged person I wont have to  see you in a crowd. But fortunately won’t. And this comes to mind with all of your aliases.

The director of ISOYG may have tried to make a feminist revenge flick but he made a movie that will only be enjoyed by guys who like watching rape scenes.

The original I Spit on Your Grave was amazing

The whole kidnapping women and keeping them hidden gives me serious uncomfortable vibes.  I know she gets her revenge or whatever, but I cannot watch. Esp the ones that take place in another country.

Watched The Witch last night.  Was pretty good, had some dark things going on.

Adding Babadook to the list although I'm not sure I'll like it as much as Witch based on the trailer.  If you got anymore suggestions I'd love them.

I love horror but I hate torture pron and rape scenes.  It's just disgusting and vile, it's not fun or scary.

Yes, that's what it's called...I forgot the actual genre. But I just cannot.

Even the Saw movies get to me occasionally, but it's mostly the torture pron/r@pe. I don't even like it in books.

We watched the Terrifier movies a few weeks ago, and there's a scene where he does a bit of this and I had to get up and multitask for a few minutes until it was over. Otherwise, those movies weren't too bad.

I kinda like the first Saw because of the story and the ending, but the rest, forget it.

I know what you mean in the Terrifier movie, at least one of them.  I do want to watch the new one.

Maybe in October we'll do the 31 nights like we used to do back in the day, that was fun.

If you’re talking about Terrifier 2, really gross and totally didn’t fit the campy tone of the rest of the movie at all. Just stupid.

Well, there’s no accounting for taste ;)

I still cringe at the "torture porn" label.    A lot of great movies get tossed in the pile because they show extreme stuff, IMO.

To me the bad ones are the Hostel/Saw type movies.   BUT, I also think those are just the natural extension of another subgenre that notoriously has bad movies - the slashers.  Let's be real - the reason most people watch slashers is because they want to see people offed in all sorts of ways.  Showing some t1ts is a bonus, of course.   Those movies are just extreme versions of that - watching people get killed slower and blurring in some sex.   I guess where I am going is that I see things like Martyrs and the like thrown in that bucket, and I don't view those types of movies the same way.

That said, I still also enjoy a couple saw movies and Hostel for what they are.   They are nowhere near as hard to get through as something like Martyrs, and are mostly just laughably dumb movies.

Looks like VUDU or Plex, WTF they are or a $4-5 rental.

I get why it gets put in there with Saw and others - there is torture and there is extreme violence.   After that, I still think Martyrs is incredibly well made and is wrestling with some interesting ideas.  Saw is dumb poorly acted crap for the most part.

It’s ROUGH.

If you like it may want to check out a French movie called Inside too. Also brutal.

100%.   Don't take the warnings lightly on that one.

I have a DVD copy of a movie called Tumbling Doll of Flesh somewhere in my basement. Years ago I popped it on and turned it off after 10 minutes. Nothing had happened in that time but it was already so gross I knew I couldn’t sit through it.

I meant to send it to gocolts one day but then Gary died. At least I sent him my copy of A Serbian Film.

RIP Gary :(

I dig horror movies and don't mind regular gore, but anyone who enjoys torture porn, explicit rape, etc is phuked in the head.

Not shocking that it's mainly cultist who need that extreme violence for their entertainment.

Since the family is out of town, last night watched, "The Farm", "Hunter Hunter", "Martyrs" (French and American remake version), and "Funny Games" (original)...

The American version of Martyrs is terrible...  The US version was changed from the original, which I thought was incredible...  The acting by the woman that played Anna was top notch IMO...

As for Funny Games, I had seen the American version of it a while ago (which is a shot-for-shot remake), but I wanted to watch the original...  I liked that foreign version better...

The Farm and Hunter Hunter was also very good and solid...

Now I need to come up with some others for tonight...

@BuckSwope @MDC:

I know you said it was brutal and I am assuming you meant what Anna went through, but that didn't bother me...  I could see how, since it was drawn out longer than it probably needed to be and that is probably why the US version was switched up because of it...

Did you see The Sadness? It was gross but so far over the top that I laughed through almost all of it. My wife was less amused!

Not yet...  It isn't available on my TV listings for free...  I might hit the illegal sites today to look for it...

It’s on Prime and Vudu. It was gory AF and a ton of fun.
