Coronavirus - Doomsday

Well, not exactly locked down. We can still go out for food and stuff... and from what I read it will be lightly enforced, but they reserve the right to ticket for a misdemeanor at their discretion.

I wonder how this is going to affect our Directv service call I have scheduled for Saturday... our dish got focked up during all this rain. If we have to suffer through the next few weeks without tv, Mr Maid might end up dead.

I'm surprised he hasn't killed himself already.

I'm pretty sure she could tell me who sent it to her and how. Whether or not it was work related or if it was a forwarded email regurgitating something somebody saw on the interwebs. :dunno:

This guy makes more sense than anyone I've heard yet.   China was decimated by Trump.  This is their payback.  And this is why you see libs backing China right now, for the same reason the libs back terrorists, gangs, vandalism, violence, etc.  The libs residing on American soil, will back anyone who against Trump. China is totally against Trump.  So now you have libs cheering the coronavirus on.  Pathetic fawks.

My GF works for Dish.  They're getting hammered with people stuck at home, and people are not being very nice over the phone.  If you have to call back, please be nice.  People who work in service oriented industries are feeling the frustration of those affected by this.

This.

I hate the way the news portrays these orders.

Good luck on your Direct TV.  You may be down to just posting here for entertainment.

I’m not Nikki. I’m always nice to customer service people. You catch more flies with sugar than you do with vinegar.

Thanks. They’ll either show up or they won’t. No way I’m calling back. though, it took an hour to get through yesterday... I’ll pick up a Hulu subscription or something, if worse comes to worse.

Sorry to hear that.  At Dish, they're "all hands on deck" due to call volume.  They've got managers who haven't worked the phones in years doing 20 hours per week on the phones.

That could be part of the problem.  You have all of those flies down there because you aren't using Masengil.

If Congress hadn't fought Trump on every single little thing we would have far fewer coronavirus cases right now.

My wife works for a non profit retail store (thrift store). They have been closed to the public since Tuesday, but are still required to come into the store and work for 4 hours each day. (they are still picking up donations M-F). The CEO/Director had a meeting with them today, stating that everyone probably has Covid 19 already and therefore it shouldn't be a problem that the store staff is working together every day. (even though the main office has closed and those workers are working from home).

They are not making any money due to the store being closed. They have a small online store that makes about $1200 a week. They are spending more than that in fuel for the truck, lights, heat and other misc operating expenses.

And to top it all off, there were 14 people attending the meeting in a small conference room. One of the workers has been sick for a week with a lung ailment. He coughed twice and the CEO asked him to leave the meeting and call in to listen.

It's a her.

As a non-profit CEO, she's more of a cheerleader than a common sense leader.

I was a Dish retailer for years.  We also sold appliances and TVs.  Being in retail can be such a terrible profession.  People can be a-holes and it takes a special person to put up with them.

Does she work for Dish corporate or for a retailer?

DISH, not a retailer.

My wife quit working at Fluor when our second kid was born.

As of now I assume that I will keep my job as long as layoffs are less than 40% of our workforce as I have some critical technical knowledge. However, who knows what management thinks when they make these determinations.

Good luck I wish you the best.  I'm in a similar spot and, as I said in another thread, tax authorities are going to get crazy aggressive and I am responsible for our biggest operating cost.

Been thinking a lot about this. I remember 2008. Basically boils down to how people look back on this year before they get the voting booth. no matter what kind of recovery we have, they're already down playing the effects. people going to remember this is a really shity horrible time that generations of folks couldn't even remember being worse.

I don't think you can blame Trump for some random ass virus. but all the sins that would have been forgiven before. The immaturity, pettiness, impetuousness, the vanity, the self-congratulation, the just plain stupidity, all of that will be lumped in with, God, my life is worse now than it was four years ago.

Fair or not, even if you don't think biden's going to be better, people just don't want to feel this way right now or in six months or eight months or whatever.

Trump rode high on an economy that he had very little to do with boosting. And that's fine. But the same rocket he rode going up is the same one he'll have to ride going down.

He wasn't responsible for the ride up and isn't entirely responsible for the ride down, but that's what happens when you the man in the big chair.

Biden thinks the travel ban was racist. Vote for that.

That's not hard. I recalled, Trump was saying that they're thugs murderers rapists drug dealers gang members, I can't remember him using as a justification the fact that they were virus vectors.

But again, I don't think it's about any one particular message or platform. I think in the end like I said before, people look back at the last x months and the current month and how I feel about that has a lot to do with what happens in the voting booth. Think about the first George Bush for example.

People will be able to look back and know that the single action that saved the most lives would not have been ordered by Biden.

The fun part is, we will see. This is one of those you can't prove a negative, but you can certainly prove a positive. Whether Biden would or would not have voted for whatever is hypothetical at best. The fact that Trump ravaged his own pandemic task force? Is a matter of record.

But again for the third time, that may or may not have changed things. It will be about how people feel the way they feel and are in certain financial situations when they vote.

There's a reason why people look back at world war 2 & post 9/11 with fondness. Because we were United and strong and angry and patriotic. There's no way in hell anybody is that way right now.  Let's see Toby Keith write a ballad about s ocialistic bailouts 2 failing companies in the first place.

tell the people who think we can't learn. Look at the comments made by lawmakers and even Trump about the proposed bailouts before they've even the drafted. Number blank checks to failing companies. Do I believe that when I see it. This is why I would love to see Elizabeth Warren at least as vice president. She's about the only one who will hold their feet to the fire.

Do you work for oil or just an energy company?

The electric/gas companies should come out better, everyone will still need AC. Oil companies are focked though
