Wednesday non-political thread - DITLOIDS

Recommended Posts

Good morning and good luck with todays puzzle, DITLOIDS .   Ditloids are word puzzle, in which a phrase, quotation, date, or fact must be deduced from the numbers and abbreviated letters in the clue.  Normally short words such as “in”, “an”, “the” etc. are not abbreviated. For instance 3 = C in the F = 3 coins in the fountain.   You correctly answer, you post the next one.

12 = S of the Z

I have never heard of these, barely understood the instructions, and am not sure if it has to begin with a number, but here goes.

24 = B in a C

You know there aren't a lot of places in the world where you would see 37 D in Y M answered so quickly.   You guys are the best.   :doublethumbsup:

36? Does that include me?

I thought it was obvious after the previous one. I wasn’t sure if he was really asking or just posting it as a response to the other one.

I’m going to do two because no one will get the first one, but it was the first thing I thought of.

5 = L of D

7 = S a S

ETA: here’s a third one everyone on this board should get

5 = S of a G R

Never knew the name of these little puzzles, but back in 10th grade we had a teacher that had us work on an entire sheet of these for fun.

This is one that gave us the most trouble:

28 = D in M C

Neither did I...  When Mike started this thread, I said "What the hell is a ditloid"...
