V-Day plans?

Recommended Posts

I'll be joining dingby on his private jet heading to Paris for a quick one night trip.  He's reserved the Eifel Tower for a romantic dinner for 150 of his closest friends.  The next day we'll be off to Antarctica to enjoy some summer warmth.

Spend the whole day online in my pajamas with some breaks for food or bathroom or interacting with my kids.

Nothing on Friday.  Maybe do some dinner on Saturday night.  We have been married for 25 years, so Valentine's Day is not really that big of a deal now.

Isn't this the truth.  Our youngest wants to go to the movies with some friends Friday night and we'd have to drive them.  We looked at each other and said that won't be a problem.

Wife is making lamb Friday; probably a rack, maybe chops.  We'll open a nice bottle of wine and eventually fock like 50-yr-old rabbits.

Sunday my wife is using the holiday as an excuse to have a family dinner; all 3 kids are coming over.  She had talked about a turkey dinner with the trimmings but I think that is up for change.

We're married 26+ years so well past the gift stage.  I'll probably pick up some flowers on Friday. :dunno:

lost $700.  Everyone lost as a matter of fact, me the most.  Had a very nice dinner. Guy from work met me down there and brought his girl (both Asian, they love casinos) Not packed at all.  Hotels were all sold out which was weird, stayed 5 miles up the road.

Too much cig smoke though, Gross. Encore in Boston is no smoking.

There must have been a show. I know a lot of young people book rooms and 5-6 of them pack it in there. That club there has a line at night to get in. There’s a no smoking section I thought?

Yeah, when you have to take little kids choices are limited. Last time I was in Outback I was getting on my son about not eating his food. He said his tummy hurt. Of course I told him to suck it up and eat it or he’s not getting dessert, going to bed when we get home blah blah. He puked all over the table a few minutes later. Good times.

Got gift cards to all 3. Longhorn is decent. Outback is hit or miss. OG got rid of their beef pastas so there’s nothing there I like anymore. Haven’t been in a while cause of that

4 skinless boneless chicken breast halves
3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
1 1/2 tbs ap flour
Additional ap flour (for dredging)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1/3 c dry white wine
1/4 c fresh lemon juice
1/4 c chicken broth
1/4 c drained capers
1/4 c chopped fresh parsley

Place chicken between 2 large sheets of plastic wrap. Using meat mallet, lightly pound chicken to 1/4-inch thickness. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Mix 1 tablespoon butter and 1 1/2 tablespoons flour in small bowl until smooth. Place additional flour in shallow baking dish. Dip chicken into flour to coat; shake off excess.
Heat oil in pan. Add 2 chicken breasts to the pan and cook until golden and cooked through, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer chicken to platter; tent with foil to keep warm....or preheat oven to low (175 or 200) and hold in oven.

Bring wine, lemon juice and broth to boil in pan over medium-high heat. Whisk in butter-flour mixture and boil until sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes. Stir in capers, parsley and remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Season sauce to taste with salt and pepper. Pour sauce over chicken and serve.

Capital Grille has Valentine's Eve now.  I figure we can go out on Saturday and it is easier because I don't have to rush home after work to go out like it would be on a Friday night.

We have a $200 GC to Cap Grille, that might cover dinner for 3.

either 2 racks of lamb or 2 loins, trimmed

marinade:

2 tbs fennl seed

1 tbs sherry vin

3 tbs orange zest

1/4 c orange juice

1/4 c fresh mint, chopped

1/4 c fresh cilantro, chopped

6 garlic cloves

1/4 c molasses

1 yellow onion, peeled and chopped

combine in food proceessor until it's a smooth paste. rub on lamb. refrigerate overnight.

harrisa sauce:

1 red bell pepper, roasted and peeled

2 romas, roasted until skin is blackened

1 tsp whole cloves

1 tbs fennel seeds

1 tsp cumin seeds

6 garlic cloves

2 tbs hot smoked paprika

2 tbs crushed red pepper flakes

3 tbs ground red chile

juice of 1 orange

2 tbs sherry vin

2 tbs tomato puree

1 tbs tomato paste

1/4 c water

s&p to taste

heat a saute pan...add cloves ad fennel seeds. toast. remove from heat and add cumin seeds (heat from hot pan should be enough). grind this mixture. in food processor, puree peppers, tomatoes, and garlic into a paste. add everything and blend well. it should be a fairly thick paste.

so...can either sear on the grill and finish in the oven... or just roast for about 30 in a 375 oven. rest for 5-10 min. cut and serve with cous-cous and the harrisa.

I go to Outback because their beer is ice cold and I love the blue cheese salad. I get a small sirloin because there is no way in hell Im paying 30 dollars for a 6 oz filet and a few pieces of shrimp at an Outback. Longhorn blows away Texas Roadhouse. That place sucks.

Yeah. We had a lot of puking this winter. Right now I’m locked in in the potty training battle. He’s not having it. Laughs at me. It took less than one summer with the girl.

You will be surprised at how far it can go.  I went there for my anniversary and they gave us champagne and dessert for free.  We got steaks, sides and a bottle of wine and I think that it was less than $200.  I doubt the kid eats much, so you might have to throw in $20.  ;)

That is the difference between boys and girls.  I wish I had some advice, but I haven't had to deal with it in like 15 years.  :dunno:

I’ve got a $150 GC to steakhouse downtown. That’ll barely cover my wife and I there. Prob still end up having to throw out some money to cover the bill if we decide to get drinks. That being said, I’m finally gonna get to try A5 Wagyu steak. $39/ounce with minimum 2oz.

Had dinner at an Italian (local place, it was solid) place last Saturday and saw Bad Boys, my wife loves those movies, it wasn't horrible.

Son has a home game Friday and away game Saturday about an hour away.  This weekend is a bust.

Not sure if you're being serious or mocking it, but I eat at Olive Garden about 10 times a year. It's my daughter's favorite place to go.  And though I'm not crazy about their Italian food, I can eat four bowls of their Zupa Tuscana soup with breadsticks.  In other words, I'm never sad when she says she wants Olive Garden.

I just now understood V-Day meant Valentine's Day.  I'm reading these posts and wondering Why is he going to the Outback to celebrate the allied victory in WW2?
