No. Less than $1200 or less is good. Separate wins are not counted together.

Slot machines Friday -

Hit for $1083 at 1:48 am and went to another machine and hit $658 4 minutes later

THEN I hit $665 like an hour later.  I did lose my $225 stack playing 1/3 NLHE

Slot Machine Sundat

Hit $800 around 9 pm and then went to play 1/3 NLHE with a $240 stack and left with around $450

Sitter (nephew) did cost me $90, $50 Friday (sleepover) and $40 Sunday ( I had to go back Sunday and try to continue the lucky streak)

Was pretty tipsy both times (we. Some Asian dude playing hold em wanted to fight me when I thanked him for giving me his stack when he tried to bluff me

Here are some of the photos I took. I always bring the proof.

Nice with the small wins adding up to a good amount. The one time I did good it was enough that they gave me a form and had to claim it on taxes.

Won at Bridgeport Jai-Lai back in the day. A bunch of us, about 1500. I got stuck with the 10-99. I made them buy me a beer.

I was asking because your picture showed a cashing out for like 1500. Ed said wow but then I was thinking you had to have wagered at least 11 or 1200.

didn’t mean it in a negative way but did you come out ahead?

No problem and you're right put up around $1200 and cashed for that.We used to do the watch parties through Caesar's Entertainment so it was a way to have a little something on every game since we watched all 48 games and I don't know much about college hoops.A lot of those wins were simply taking the dogs, especially the first two days.

Worst part is that I'd cash on Monday and we always stayed through Tuesday so being the degenerate I was would give most of it back on video poker and slots.

Tried to go last night, sat in traffic for 30+ minutes at 10:30 pm, only to get to the garage entrance and it's close.  I came home even 😐

I won 52K on Fanduel 1/16 taking down 2 NFL tournaments, one for 49K that several of us tied for 1st and solo first in a smaller tourny for 3k.

Taking 9k out every 3 or 4 days and putting it in checking and savings, figured I need to hold 12K for 2021 taxes

Brought 800. came home with $500, that's a win to me. i was down to less than 100 and hit a $750 on a slot machine (2.50 bet)

Dinner was outfocking standing. My 1st time ever eating in a fancy place. They gave the lady a little tiny chair for her purse. When the dude was bringing it over, I thought Gutterboy was going to join us.

Most I’ve won on there is $200. I don’t play that often though. Like maybe 1-2 times a year

When you hit, do the machines pay you out in vouchers or cash?  Here in AC, they have vouchers that never expire (not sure how other states do it).  My friend hit for $5800 about 3 years ago and he never cashed it.  He used it for food, gambling, shows... everything.  He just pays with the voucher.  That way, he never actually paid the income tax on it because he uses it like a debit card.  Works great too because once you use it for anything, the machines print you out a new one, so you don't have to worry about the wear and tear.

He still has it too.  I think his balance is around $1k.  Like I said, they see shows, eat, and gamble on it, so it goes down way faster than it goes up.

Do they make you cash it out at the end of the night?  If not, why cash it out?  Like my friend did, just use it as free money to use at the casino.  I'm guessing you're like my friend who goes more than once every 2 or 3 years like me.  He would go down there at least once a month.  Stay overnight, that kind of thing.  A lot of people know him on a first name basis.  Not sure you go that often, but I'm guessing you're closer to his frequency than mine.

That's fine.  It's what I would do too because I rarely ever gamble.  My friend on the other hand, he goes quite often.  He never cashed it out.  To him, going to the casino is now free.  He doesn't spend any of his money there, so it's like he's spending his winnings elsewhere, just at a different pace.  I mean, he's won other money too... but when you go down there with your wife and kids and see a show and eat dinner, you can drop $1k pretty easily.  He says of the original $5800 on the voucher, he has about $1k left and he spent over $7k.  But again, it's all about frequency.

Ed - ever play blackjack at Encore? Apparently, there is a lawsuit because they only pay 6-5 for blackjack instead of 3-2.

only for like 20 minutes, I was doing poorly. I did hit one BJ and stopped playing.

I thought for sure I lost in 2020, but when I checked their site I was up $800 for the year. (no w2s)

Who can say that?

Congratulations.  You can deduct losses to the extent of gains.  Please update in December 2020.

Only if you itemize.  But since he did not hit any $1200 jackpots nothing gets reported to the IRS.

I hit several jackpots over $1200 but losses will not be deductable since i do not itemize.  Slot machines not only have bad odds, they have lousy tax laws that tax you despite losses.  Stick to table games.

correct

The thresholds are $1,200 for bingo or slot machine winnings, $1,500 for keno winnings and $5,000 for poker tournament winnings

Why would there be a lawsuit?  I would think the gaming commission determines the rules.  I've seen 6-5 tables in Vegas before.  Usually it's because they've tweaked the rules such that the player has a little more advantage than in typical blackjack so the 6-5 is a way of compensating for that rule change.   Usually the rules are clearly labeled at the table.  If someone doesn't like the rules, no one is making them play.  I've never played at Encore so if they're doing something shady I wouldn't know.

My understanding is that it is because the gaming commission had rules on "6-5 Blackjack" that were very vague and the casino may not have been following all of those rules. However, the gaming commission (which is relatively new in this state) has since changed their rules to provide more clarity and to remove that loophole.

As to why there would be a lawsuit, I am not sure that I follow the thinking. If there is a chance to sue someone who makes a lot of money (like a casino), there is always a lawyer willing to sue.

Sure, but I suspect the gaming industry isn't one to settle over player lawsuits.  Most lawyers know what industries to try to shake down.
