Haven't seen Deep Purple mentioned much over the years here.  They have some all time classics.

Very difficult, could've made a case for any of them but in the end I went with what made their comeback perfect,Perfect Strangers.

As a long-time lurker, let me just say I love me some Deep Purple (and Rainbow as well). They do not get the respect that Zeppelin and Sabbath do, although I think Purple had better musicians. Blackmore may be an ass, but when he was on, I don't know who played better. Sad to see the recent Rainbow efforts, though.  Voted for Burn, but Lazy is a great song.  I would add Mistreated to the list as well. It is a killer live. I'll see myself out now.

Perfect Strangers is a phenomenal song.  The whole album was very, very good.

I LOVE me some DP........but really only when Ian Gillan is at the helm.

I finally picked up the Machine Head about 10 years ago.......it's possibly the single best Hard Rock album of all time. :headbanger:

I chose "Highway Star" but "Smoke on the Water" and "Pictures of Home" are close behind.

Perfect Strangers all day. That song is way underrated.

I like it  lot too, but feel they kind of ripped off Zeppelin a bit.

Odd.  Your wife says the same thing whenever Tyrone and Reggie stop by your house whenever you're at work.

So I assume "knocking on your backdoor" is a ballad of his attempt to go for anal?

My favorite line is the one about the "cunning linguist"....

Sweet Lucy was a dancer
But none of us would chance her
Because she was a samurai
She made electric shadows
Beyond our fingertips
And none of us could reach that high
She came on like a teaser
I had to touch and please her
Enjoy a little paradise
The lock was in my pocket
When Lucy met the rocket
She never knew the reason why
I can't deny it
With that smile on her face
Oh it's not the kill
It's the thrill of the chase
Feel it coming
It's knocking at the door
You know it's no good running
It's not against the law
The point of no return
And now you know the score
And now you're learning
What's knockin' at your back door
Sweet Nancy was so fancy
To get into her pantry
Had to be the aristocracy
The members that she toyed with
At city club were something in diplomacy
So we put her on the hit list
Of a common cunning linguist
A master of many tongues
And now she eases gently
From her Austin to her Bentley
Suddenly she feels so young
I can't deny it
With that smile on her face
Oh it's not the kill
It's the thrill of the chase
Feel it coming
It's knocking at the door
You know it's no good running
No it's not against the law
The point of no return
Now how you know the score
And now you're learning
What's knockin' at your back door
Sweet Lucy was a dancer
But none of us would chance her
Because she was a samurai
She made electric shadows
Beyond our fingertips
And one of us could reach that high
I can't deny it
With that smile on my face
Oh oh, it's not the kill
It's the thrill of the chase
Feel it coming
Knocking at your door
You know it's no good running
No it's knocking at your door
Knockin' at your back door
