They also had Jack Blades from Night Ranger.

Yeah, he was fine, but I never considered Night Ranger to be great.

I'm sure most of you won't know any of the members of Sons of Apollo, but it's a good lineup.

Mike Portnoy - drums

Billy Sheehan - bass

Ex-Dream Theater keyboardist

Some guitarist that's been in other bands and is quite talented.

Isn’t the The Winery Dogs with Richie Kotzen ?

Close, but no.  I know Portnoy and Sheehan have done other projects together.

Saw Sons of Apollo at a small venue.  They put on a great show.  While I love Dream Theater, their singer James LaBrie is the weak link in the lineup.  This singer would fit in nicely.

To add another one how about the combination of Duran Duran,Robert Palmer and Chic(LeFreak) to form The Power Station.

Read a funny review of one of their albums where someone referred to him as James "Just ran up a flight of stairs" LaBrie since he uses the breathy vocals way too much.

Wasn't that Robert Palmer on vocals too? I think that he was more supergroup than the drummer.

Yes,I mentioned him in the post, the reason I highlighted Chic was (at least to me) like the old game which of these doesn't belong.

Of any top rock songs ever list I've ever seen Stranglehold is always in the top 50.

Personally Free For All is my favorite album,Meatloaf sang lead vocals on five of the tracks, here's my favorite.

Good stuff

Cat Scratch and Wango were awesome if you were a freshman in HS when they came out.  I don’t queue them up now, but back then, they were fun rock songs.

And "Stanglehold" alone made him a Legend

Chickenfoot

I'd agree that the musicians are worthy of making them a Supergroup, sadly the material they wrote and performed wasn't.

I like Chickenfoot btw

which one played Drums?

Also, after knowing and loving the original song, this version for me at least was weak.

They had session musicians play behind. The best songs they do are the Kris Kristifferson ones. Sunday Morning Coming Down, Help Me Make It Through The Night, Me and Booby McGee. The live stuff is better.

that's my point!

there's not a drummer, bassist, etc........this is just an older Country version of the Wilbury's, not a Supergroup.

What's the definition of a supergroup

A supergroup is a musical performing group whose members have successful solo careers, are members of other groups, or are well known in other musical professions. ... A supergroup sometimes forms as a side project, with no intention that the group will remain together.

The Wilburys and Highwaymen were most certainly supergroups.

They are a group of people making super music. Good enough for me.
