If people were smart...

They would take their $600 plus unemployment checks and put it in the stock market.  There is going to be a buttload of money to be made.  The question, what stocks to buy?

When I got unemployment, it was never $600...  Do you mean the "stimulus" check that some won't even get?

My GF was unemployed for a couple months in 2018/19 and was receiving just under $700. Something like $690 I think.

On the bright side my buddy with a wife and 4 kids will be getting $4400 back from the stimulus.

 

On the downside he still has a wife and 4 kids.

You mean that money most people need to pay for rent, food etc...?

No, the feds are adding $600 to weekly state unemployment checks.  Or maybe it is a max of $600 based on what you had been making, which would make more sense.  I think up to 4 months.  AZ is also extending eligibility for another 3 months but that is state-specific.

The stimulus check is independent of that.
