I hope you guys know that unemployment is based on claimed wages. So, those people living on tips where they don’t claim it all, won’t get as much unemployment as they might hope.

It is something that so many who don’t report their income and pay taxes are going to be subsidized by those who do. What a racket.

I’m talking about people who work off the books or only report some of their income.

Yup. But that's where the flat 600 a week comes in. It is not wage or earnings based.

How else are they going to pay for their smokes and scratch tickets?  :dunno:

BTW - I believe that people have already started receiving that $600.  I don't have anyone here on unemployment (son still working and wife got "rehired" as part of the stimulus package), so I don't know for sure, but a friend said his daughter received her's yesterday.  She is a waitress and works at a kids gym.

Started this week in MA, my SIL already got her +$600. Here I am feeling bad for my tenants and they are making more to be laid off than they were cooking in a kitchen

  • Thanks 1
