Mony Mony by Billy Idol. I am sure many will argue that he was not "great" bu that song really blows.

it's a cover, and most covers blow

What was the name of the Chris Elliot show on Fox that used that as the theme song?

Now face North.

Edit: nevermind.  It was "Get a Life"

One of my favorite songs of theirs.  Along with songs like One and Unforgiven.  Songs like Master of Puppets, meh, mostly heavy metal pablum to me.  I'm sure I'm violating some guy code with this opinion but, it is why I never got into mainstream Metallica back in the day.

Absolutely in line with Paul & the Beatles timeline & journey.

Agreed, love Eleanor Rigby as well.  Octopus's Garden, really?  :(

What exactly is there to love about Eleanor Rigby? A song about an old lonely lady dying alone? That’s rock n roll?

It was interesting lyrically and musically unique.  Also there was a lot of musical experimentation in the 60s including folk influence which I personally love.  I'm sorry that Ringo didn't kick over his drum set on Eleanor Rigby a la Keith Moon, is that what you were looking for?  :dunno:

No. I like plenty of folk and out of the normal lane music from that time. But this particular song is a bit pretentious if you ask me. And it’s further proof that the Stones are the better rock band.

Yep.  The "Black Album" was the beginning of the end for Metallica.  "Enter Sandman" is very meh as well.

RIP Cliff Burton.

How in the hell could two legends like David Bowie and Mick Jagger give birth to this abomination?  I think I win this thread.

No.....but I'm just saying this a quality song, I fully get that you don't like it though.

I realized long ago to separate personal taste from quality.

I was in college at the time and don't know how many times sitting in a bar or at a party I had to endure Keep On Loving You :wall:

I like Eleanor Rigby for what it is, but I don't consider it a rock song.  I can't even classify it as pop or folk.  I'm not sure it belongs in any category.

The score was written by George Martin and played by an 8 piece string ensemble.    None of the Beatles played any instruments on the song.

They'd done something similar with Yesterday years earlier.  Both songs are sad, melancholy, reflective, whatever you wanna call it.

Didn’t Jagger and Bowie suck each other’s cack, for real? Might explain it.

Walk of Life - Dire Straits

Two more from 1984 (agree with Jump) - I'll Wait and Drop Dead Legs

I Wanna Know What love is - Foreigner.  not a huge foreigner fan but this song sucks so bad it belongs.

This thread deserves a spinoff....Bands you hate that have one song you really like:

Atlanta Rhythm Section - Homesick

This actually was the result of a much better, but aborted, plan. The original plan was to perform it as a duet for Live Aid. With Bowie performing at Wembley and Jagger at JFK in Philly. Once they realized the satellite link-up would cause a nearly one second delay, they determined it would not be possible to do. While both artists were willing to do it live, neither was willing to prerecord and fake doing their part live.  So they agreed to do it in the studio and make a video that premiered internationally during the Live Aid concert.

But yes, I agree that this is rather 'silly' for two rock n roll icons like Jagger and Bowie. But the original intent was good.

I like a few of their songs.  Spooky and Do It Or Die.   I'll have to check out Homesick.  Not familiar with that one.

I agree with the thread suggestion.  It would be a good one

I would guess you've heard it but never related it to them...pretty different than their other stuff
