No hurricanes.

Can't get bit by a shark

outside of 5  cities the state is mostly crime free.

we have ONE venomous   snake and you have to work to find that

The people are hard working and normal outside of AA which is a liberal bastion.

We have 4 very clearly defined seasons. Not like heyyyy look.......snow in august.

Our state bird is the mosquito and that thing will straight kill you

You were doing good on "what are the best things about Michigan" until you got to the end there and ran out of juice. Also our state bird is an endangered species you never heard of unless you know it's the state bird called the Kirtland's Warbler. Or maybe it's the Robin. It depends on who you ask. People voted for the robin then the conservationists came in with their suggestion and now nobody knows. We just know it's not the mosquito.

You northern guys crack me up with the mosquito thing.  Minnesota and Wisconsin also claim the mosquito as the state bird. Spend some time in Southern Florida, Southern Louisiana or southern Texas ANYTIME of the year and then complain about mosquitoes.

I've never been to Alaska but I think they win.

Well, lets flip the script....what are the best things about Michigan?

Do you like the outdoors?

Amazing camping from RV to tent.

Hunting from Turkey to Bear and fishing on small lakes to great lakes is amazing.

Boating with thousands of lakes

If you haven't heard about our sand dunes that's good. I don't want word getting out.

Speaking of dunes we have some of America's best beaches, it's true.

We have some amazing small towns, Frankenmuth, Caseville, Holland, Mackinac island etc..

We also have waterfalls and beautiful rock formations

Outside our sh1t democrat controlled cities the people are amazingly nice and welcoming

If you're into trendy scenes Royal Oak, Rochester, Traverse City have a good nightlife.

We have world-class museums that suck our tax dollars so they better have good stuff as does our Zoo.

We have world-class hospitals as well.

Do you like cars? Spring summer and fall there's a car show somewhere.

I hate winter but if you're into skiing, snowmobiling, and other winter activities there's plenty of that too.

SE Michigan is completely different then mid-Michigan and west Michigan, The difference can be seen in northern Michigan and the UP (being from Michigan you know there's a difference between the two.

****

For me what I like most is and this is especially evident on the west coast is the long summer nights. Where it's still light out at 10pm. Sitting on a lake with a cold drink watching the sun go down. Not having that opportunity year-round makes it that much more special. Going to the cider mill in the fall on a crisp day wearing a hoody is pretty great too.

Everyone is pretty much ignoring the stay at home order at this point, but certain businesses still can’t open. (Restaurants, bars, casinos)

Vacation rentals are not supposed to be operating but they are booming here.

I can re-open the showroom by appt only tomorrow but still can’t install until the stay at home order is lifted.  Next target date is June 15

You had me until skiing; Michigan is one of the flattest states which gets snow.  And my inlaws used to have a house in Boyne which is where one of the few ski "slopes" is.  Maybe Houghton or something else in the Yoop which is 12 hours away?  :dunno:

Also, saying that you like it when it is light out at 10PM would be like me saying I like when it is 115 degrees in Phoenix.  It's unnatural and wrong.

True Michigan is a pretty flat state although it gets a little more hilly in the north. I'm not saying we have Colorado type mountains, but we have some fun hills or so I'm told.

As for the 10pm light it's only for a month or two. Makes the summer special IMO

Being new to skiing, I can't compare MI slopes with other states, but there's decent snow and the hills I've been on are pretty fun for us.

Whitmer currently with a 64% approval in Michigan.   Trump is at 43%

Looks more like Whitmer's good job is going to cost Trump the state.

So multiple people can touch cook and serve me food, but can't get a hair cut.

This is a total FU from her to the protestors last month.

I just find the timing interesting.

She had it till june 12.  But accelerates it? Now?  After all her grandstanding?

I vividly remember her saying publicly that the protests regarding her lockdown in Lansing will lead to an extension of her shutdown. But now?? When the protests are 100x more prevalent?

Gtfo

The protests in Michigan don't seem so bad as other cities around the country. I type this knowing that a 19 y/o from Eastpointe (where I'm from) was shot downtown. I still get the impression looking at national news that Michigan isn't feeling the brunt of this. Is anything burning?

I also appreciate CDub saying this sh*t isn't hitting Macomb County at all.
