jerryskids 5,062 Posted May 25, 2020 I was going to post it in Utilit99's "Happy Memorial Day" thread, but that ended up being a hack troll thread on Newbie so I didn't want to legitimize it. I also feel weird saying "Happy" with such a day, I'm not sure what adjective to use. Thank you to all of our fallen veterans. Read this to your children and explain the significance of the day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Flanders_Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Happy Memorial Day is a celebration day of our freedoms. Makes me happy as well as inspired by those who fought for them. I totally think those that fought for and may have gave their lives for what this country stands for would rather be cheered than mourned.
