Mike cares about free speech and a free forum and doesn't police comments. And I support him in this, it's why I've been here so long. I am disappointed he wanted shotsup to stop posting those left right center posts that everyone seemed to enjoy. 

Lesson had been throwing around "racism" accusations all the time right before his banning and it was getting tedious. I acknowledge that we have a racist element here, we let BiffTannen post here freely who's clearly and unrepentantly racist/misogynist and in that regard, he serves as a kind of icebreaker ship that clears the way for other commentary by other posters that's crosses the line as well.

Do I want him banned? No. I don't want anyone banned, even Giants Fan, although in fairness, the board has been better off without him. 

Now, I've flagged a dozen posters over the years for Mike for banning , in each instance it was a new poster with a post count of one and they come in and advertise in the forums trying to sell Viagra at 50% off or some new wireless gizmo or some cr@p.  GTFO of here. But commentary I disagree with, fock no.

Where I get frustrated with Mike is that he sporadically exercises mod powers.

My first timeout here was years ago when we used to do jihads. He put a stop to that. Fair enough I guess.

He eventually banned GFIAFP. Newbie has been banned several times.

Then there are the ones where he locks a thread bashing fbg for some reason.

And here lately with the whole rate chicks thing. 

But then there are posts here that are about as racist as racist gets, outright calls for ethnic cleansing even, and nothing. It's strange. I get the impression he doesn't come over here often. We're a bit of an embarrassment, but we churn ad revenue, so he puts up with it mostly.

Mike doesn't really follow the Geek Club. He's in the main board regularly but he hasn't interacted with us for years. Like never. Sometimes, when sh*t really gets deep, he'll leave a comment before/while dropping the banhammer or locking something. What rules we have here are haphazardly enforced and often run with benign negligence and we like that setup. It suits us just fine.

That thread that got deleted was clearly trolling (the racist pig or liberal cuck poll). I mean I bit and commented in it because I didn't mind, I seldom mind, but it was clear from the start what the purpose was.

Right. So how was a thread titled, "which would you rather be?" draw Mike's attention? Unless someone reported it to him.
