It will be a great opportunity for the athletes to concentrate on their academics. It’s not all downside.

B1G has canceled non-conf schedule for 2020.

I can live without the NFL. I NEED college football.

CFB won't be played. At least in the fall. I could see a Spring season.

That would be awesome, but I doubt they do it.

They all have indoor practice facilities.  So practice Mid jan to mid Feb. Start games in March. March April May season. June Bowl games. No month long break, which is nonsense anyway.

College BBall will be killed next.

Basketball has a chance if there's a vaccine come the new year.  They'll just play only conference games.  I'm hoping for a vaccine by then because I want to see baseball.

I want to see it all..but I sincerely doubt there will be any organized sports.  I wouldnt be shocked if baseball cannot finish.

I highly doubt that happens.  Kids graduate in May.  Can't have kids playing who aren't students.

They can likely make it past the election.  If Biden wins everything will be allowed to return to normal, if Trump wins expect an elongated problem, coupled with all kids of lawsuit-related actions from the Dems to attempt another coup

I meant college basketball, that's what you meant with "College BBall"?   As far as the pro sports, I'm willing to bet that none of them play this calendar year.  Well, they may start, but they won't finish.  I mean, the only way they can play the season is if everyone... players, coaches, staff, and all associated people (such as refs and what not), get tested for the virus and stay isolated from everyone for 3 weeks.  Then, as a group, they stay isolated from everyone else for the duration of the season.  There's a 0% chance that will ever happen.  All it takes is one false negative test for the fit to hit the shan.

I think you were right back in the day when you doubted the NFL season.  I'm definitely thinking that's what is going to happen.

I agree with this.  Trump wins... the vaccine will take longer to come out.  Biden wins, the vaccine will be available November 10th.

Some would already be drafted and you can bet NFL teams are not going to want their new investment playing more college games.

You're utterly insane if you believe that.

If Biden wins, the entire US economy will shut down.  National mandate to close crap everywhere.  There is nothing more attractive than a population dependent on governmental handouts which the democrats favor and republicans hate.

You have this 100% backwards.

I don't think there'll be an NFL season.  Hence, there won't be an NFL draft.  I honestly don't see how the league could come up with a fair draft system if there is no season.

Draft would obviously be pushed back until after the season.  What would they be drafting on without a season?

I think it's somewhere in the middle.  Things will slowly, but eventually go back to normal.  The Dems, during that time frame will start rolling out their socialist agendas and as soon as enough of them are in place, boom... back to normal.

Besides, there can't be a national mandate to close crap everywhere, the Dems just told us that Trump didn't have that power. 😁

If you don't...spend some time on FBG.

They have been BEGGING for Trump to call for a national shutdown. They are utterly terrified of this thing. Terrified.   They call you names and cant believe how horrible of a person you are for wanting things to return to normal.  Millions of deaths, millions more to come, and almost 99.9% of this is Trump's fault.

So trust me, the left desperately wants a national shutdown

I'm saying that there won't be a 2020 NFL season and because of that, there won't be a draft in 2021.  Even if college plays in the spring in 2021, it won't matter because there'll be no 2020 NFL season to set a draft order.

LOL, no, I'm not saying that they don't want that.  I'm saying that the Dems told us that Trump didn't have the power force everyone to open.  So, the converse must be true.  That Biden wouldn't have the power to force everyone to shut down.

Well you should know it doesn't work that way.

You're not allowed to sexually harass women wither, unless you are the democratic nominee for President.  Then somehow, it's all forgotten and forgiven

Back to the topic, there are probably only 30-40 schools that make money on college football and 300-400 that lose money. There are alot more Utep's, Montana States, Northern Iowa's, etc. than there are Alabama's, Ohio States.

Over all shutting down college football would help reduce college costs.

Colleges lose money playing football, but make money off of football overall.  Just like colleges break even on current students, and make money on alumni.

Do you think Montana State or Utep make money off of football?

My brother had a football scholarship to South Dakota school of mines and later transferred to play football at Montana Tech and had a small scholarship there.

There are hundreds and hundreds of schools that lose money on football and only a few that make money.

I worked at a college. Those lower level employees better not be anyone who cleans up after these kids. Their pristine colleges will look like the super dome after Katrina if they do.

There was an article a couple of years ago that said nearly 100% of money raised by colleges is based on football and football related events.  As true at Harvard as it is at Bama.

The payoff for all that investment? Nearly three quarters of all Division I football programs now run deficits, which are eventually covered by the rising tuition and student fees.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2013/05/07/ncaa-finances-subsidies/2142443/

Just 23 of 228 athletics departments at NCAA Division I public schools generated enough money on their own to cover their expenses in 2012. Of that group, 16 also received some type of subsidy — and 10 of those 16 athletics departments received more subsidy money in 2012 than they did in 2011.
