Fans boo, fire objects at players at first kneeling during Anthem with fans in attendance

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the kneeling during the anthem crap is gonna stop pretty quick.

Fans boo FC Dallas, Nashville players after kneeling for anthem

FC Dallas and Nashville SC players were booed by fans in Frisco, Texas, after they knelt for the national anthem Wednesday night.

At least one fan tossed a water bottle onto the field after the anthem, a reaction viewed as even more dangerous than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic. The fan was then escorted out of the venue, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Nashville earned a 1-0 win, the first at the MLS level in franchise history, in front of an announced crowd of 2,912. It was the first MLS match played outside the ESPN Wide World of Sports bubble during the pandemic.

“You’ve got fans booing you for people taking a stand in what they believe in when millions of other people support this cause,” FC Dallas player Reggie Cannon said. “We’ve got fans booing us in our own stadium. How disgraceful is that. Honestly, for a lack of a better word, it pissed me off.”

The anthem was not played during the MLS is Back Tournament and players kneeled during moments of silence before each kickoff while wearing Black Lives Matter shirts.

FC Dallas and Nashville players never got a chance to participate in the unified demonstration against racism, social injustice and police brutality because multiple players tested positive for coronavirus when they reported to the Swan and Dolphin Resort and they were removed from the tournament before it kicked off.

Cannon told reporters Thursday night Nashville and Dallas asked not to have the anthem played, but the request was not honored.

“We don’t feel it’s right for the anthem to be played at this moment, they ignored our wishes,” Cannon said. “We were going to kneel regardless if the anthem was played or not.

“It pisses me off that you can’t even have support from your own fans in your own stadium. It’s baffling to me. These last six months have been absolute hell for us, because we’ve had to watch other people play soccer while we were at home unfortunately contracting COVID-19. I was pissed. Everyone around me was pissed.”

The teams are scheduled to play again Sunday in Frisco as they catch up on the group stage matches they missed during the tournament that count toward MLS regular season standings.

Teams that were knocked out of the tournament early also will resume play this week, while tournament final teams Orlando City and Portland won’t play until Aug. 22 and Aug. 23, respectively.

Full disclosure:  I'm a flamin' homosexual IPA drinker and Sounders season ticket holder.  I'm definitely concerned that the Sounders will pull this sh1t when they eventually play in front of fans again, though with Inslee calling the shots for WA that might never happen.

The ironic thing is they usually have this ginormous black dude belting out the Anthem.  He does an amazing job.  Will they kneel if a black guy is singing?

Yes they will kneel and nothing will change so long as you keep giving them money.

Yep.  I almost cancelled last year when the "supporters" section were pulling their antifa Iron Front flag garbage, but held off as that wasn't on the team.  If players kneel and the team allows the supporters section to continue their antifa bullsh1t then I'll certainly let them know why I'm canceling.

I attend games to have a good time with my wife and daughter, not have political virtue signaling shoved in my face.

I just found out a friend of mine in our fantasy league is calling it quits this year, saying he can no longer support the NFL in any way.  What makes this unique?  The league is 33 years old - one of the oldest leagues I know of.  Think about that - this guy's been in this league with his buddies for 33 years, and he is so pissed off about the politics infiltrating the NFL that he is calling it quits.  This guy is as big an NFL fan as anyone I've ever met.

 "Peaceful protests" by the left starting fires, looting businesses, destroying lives, throwing firebombs at police, beating people up, destroying property, etc, etc, etc. These people are all "peaceful".

But someone from the right expressing their dislike of people disrespecting this country by kneeling during the anthem throws a water bottle on the grass and those are violent Trump voters.

This is brilliant. Severe retardation from a useless life is the way of mdc. Keep at the trolling.

I do not support the fans behaving like Democrat/Liberal/Leftists and throwing things at people with whom they disagree, at all.

That being I said I absolutely support the right of the fans to voice THEIR opinion about a political topic. Particularly one that is a big lie like BLM.

You want to kneel......fine.....

Someone boo's you.....also fine.....

I had to talk a guy into not quitting last week. He was, I say was, a Giants season ticket holder. He’s who I would get a ticket from once in a while. The reckoning is coming.

The Left has also asked that audiences use "jazz hands" instead of clapping, because loud applause can be traumatizing to people.

Technically this is a double protest. upset black thing now upset at boo'ers. What to do? Applying logic it would be kneel with hands over ears.

Mdc and democrat logic.  Cant get any more bizarre.

Kneel for flag because of a fake cause is your right.  But booing during a game as a paying ticket holder is outrageous and makes them made.  How dumb can they get?  Walking contradictions.

1 guy threw a water bottle? They throw batteries at santa claus for the fun it in philly.

Some boo refs for bad calls, or players for cheap shots, or teams for simply taking the field (never understood that one)... I don't, not my style.  But I would absolutely boo these bums.

I'm shocked how many players join in. Doesn't take much good upbringing to know only a total piece of sh*t would do that.
