What exactly do you think people disagree with?  I would guess that I agree with you on about 80-90% of what you object to on this topic if not more. 

Usually what happens is one person hyper focuses on one thing we disagree about.  Say, maybe I am not as up in arms about the movie that started this thread. (not because I think it's OK, but because I haven't seen it myself so I don't have a strong opinion).   But, because it's the internet and evidently, we all have to be on teams and largely hate each other, we can't accept that we don't see eye to eye on one thing, it's right to being ok with the sexualization of kids and grooming behavior.   

Maybe I can try to be more clear for all involved and point out things I've seen floated around here and SM I agree and disagree with for starters:

I agree:

- pedos as defined are worse than murderers and should be treated as such. 

- kids twerking goofing around on their own who cares.  If you are showing them videos of twerking or teaching them to, it's over the line.  

- most of the Drag examples I've seen are over the line and bizzare.  I wouldn't take my kid to one, especially at the seedy ass places I've seen in examples.     

- we need to be reasonable about what are in school libraries, especially at the elementary levels and lower.   This needs to be applied uniformly too.  

- this comes from the left side of the aisle 

 

I disagree:

- that all examples should be called out as grooming and sexualization.   An example would be a disagreement I had with somebody about an episode of Floor is Lava.  They were going on about how they won't let their kids watch it now, and how it was yet another example of hypersexualization for kids, etc..   It was a 5sec flash of some contestants in drag, and I thought they were going a bit overboard with that example. 

 - IMO 95%+ of people you would talk to honestly about this and go example by example like this also would also largely agree.  Hence, I don't think that liberals as a whole agree with this and support this.

On #1- if the argument is "This stuff should not be held in schools"- I 100% agree with you. No idea why you would ever need to do a drag show in a school. But if the local community decides to run a show in some building downtown (for god knows whatever reason) and a parent takes their kid to it- that is their prerogative. You, or I, or anyone here- don't get to parents someone else's kid. I wouldn't take my kid to the show but if someone does- so be it.

On #2. The people who scream the loudest at school board meetings and protest local libraries very much so go down the "There is porn in our libraries" route. The biggest problem again becomes- parental choice isn't enough them on those books. They just want them removed. It is trying to parent out people's kids. And while some of the books are ridiculous that anyone would ever put them into an elementary school. Some of the books that end up on those hit lists are there because it has an "interracial couple" or a black kid murdered by a white person during the Civil Rights era.

On #3- as Old Maid mentioned- "twerking" is mainstream now. Kids know what it is. Parents know what it is. Grandparents know what it is. Athletes do it. It's everywhere The toothpaste isn't going back into the tube on that one- again whether you or I like it or not.  They don't need to go to a drag show to see it. They can just watch the NFL on Sunday afternoon.
