San Francisco may become first major US city to allow 16-year-olds to vote

Recommended Posts

Really need to help the "youth of color" learn how to vote because I guess they think the other people of color don't know how to vote. Why stop at 16? Why not 12? Or hell, why not seven? 7 year olds know how to push buttons.  And they can form the habit even earlier in life. :dunno:

The left is so desparate.

A California city may soon allow teens ages 16 and 17 to vote in local elections.

San Francisco residents will not only be voting in the presidential election come November, but they will also cast votes to determine if youths will be allowed to vote in municipal elections.

'I really think that Vote 16 will help youth of color in San Francisco establish the habit of voting at an earlier age, and really provide them with the support and the resources that they need to continue building on that habit as they grow older,' organizer, Crystal Chan, told the network.

'Research is clear on this, that voting is a habit. And 16 is a better time than 18 to establish that habit,' Brandon Klugman, Vote 16's campaign manager, told NBC News.

Federal courts need to step in and strike that down. Slippery slope. Next they will say “they can vote in local elections they should be allowed to vote in federal elections!”

Voting age should probably be 21, unless you serve then 18.

Even 21 seems kind of young looking back.

If you can stay on your parents insurance until you’re 25, that should be the new voting age.

That's a good one. I was thinking having worked full time (or spouse having worked full time) for at least 5 years.

Why? Because at 18 they don’t vote for the full blown commies in California?

According to their reasoning, 18 years olds are too old and stupid to develop voting habits. Young and stupid is easier for them to train.

If Digby hurries up and moves to SF he will be able to vote.

You should only be able to vote according to your taxes. Pay local taxes, vote in local elections. Pay state taxes, vote in state elections. Pay federal taxes, vote in federal elections.

People voting in elections who have zero skin in the game is a problem.

Democrats are all about taking power by any means necessary, perfect example of that mantra.

What's nice is that 16 y/os are even dumber than 18-24 y/os.
