Local radio dude said that Mountcastle was likely to finish third (not sure who his top two are), but that he'll have few enough at-bats to qualify again next year.  :ninja:

Yeah he won't win, but he certainly has put up some nice numbers...

He is cutting it close though...  The rules to determine rookie status:

A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

As of yesterday, he as 100 at-bats and they have six games left...  If he doesn't walk or get plunked or have a sacrifice, he is looking at 125 or so at-bats...  He also debuted on August 29, so he is okay there...  He should be good to be a rookie next year...

They were the first team to be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. 😞

Kyle Lewis and Luis Robert are neck and neck for AL ROY.  Lewis should edge him out, as Robert has hit a major slump.

Cronenworth should win the NL ROY

Soto will probably get NL batting title, lead Majors in OBP and Slugging and therefore OPS.  Anyone who did these things in any normal season would be an MVP shoo in.

Kind of tough to win on a last place team...

The Angels never win anything, but Trout has won 3 MVP’s.

True, but I don't think that the Angels finished last in the division though those years...

A couple of changes that I would make...

AL MVP: Jose Ramirez (though Abreu you can't go wrong with either)
NL MVP: Freddie Freeman

AL Rookie: Kyle Lewis (as much as I would go with Mountcastle, I don't even know if he will finish in the top three)
NL Rookie: Alec Bohm (though I still like Gonsolin and Ke'Bryan Hayes)

AL MVP: Bieber should be right there.  Might even give him the edge, winning the Pitching Triple crown by a mile.

NL MVP: Freeman is a lock.  Soto a close 2, then you have to go a long way to find 3.

Yeah Bieber is right there and I don't have a problem with a pitcher winning MVP, just Ramirez was incredible at the end...

As for Soto, totally agree...  If the Nats were better he would get it...  I don't think what a team does should influence someone getting MVP or not, but that will be the way the voters look at it...  Soto looks to have a great career ahead, the question is will the Nats fork out the money to keep him or let him go like Harper and Rendon?

Turner is up, so that is the first priority.  Soto, who knows what he will get.  The Yankees are probably ready with 40 a season.

Forgot about Trea...  The good think is that Max is almost done with his contract and who knows if he will resign, so they can use some of that money for Trea...

Mattingly and DJ should definitely win.

I agree with Mattingly, but I think both Abreu and Ramirez have legitimate claims.  All 3 had good pitching staffs (top 5), but LeMahieu clearly was surrounded by a better lineup.  If he wins, I don't think it would be an injustice and certainly wouldn't argue against him because I think his play is certainly worthy, but I don't think he'd be my top choice.  I would rank him 2nd behind Abreu.

Abreu or Ramirez would be the best choice for AL MVP with LeMahieu a distant third...  I was leaning Abreu earlier on, but switched to Ramirez because of the way he finished...

Mattingly will probably win because voters probably will feel sorry for him, though the Padres actually having a better record weighs it to Tingler IMO...  But I could see Mattingly wining as well...
