Recommended Posts

Been a while since I had tri tip. Not something I have too often. But I love a good ribeye. My go to when ordering steak with filet being next

Salt and pepper. Searish it. throw on the not hot side for I don't know how many minutes depending on thickness, wrap it in foil for 5 to 7 minutes.

Ooh I forgot about skirt steak. Not many places have it on the menu. That is some good meat though  🥩

I’ve had some great expensive steaks in my life. I remember the great burgers I‘ve had more.

If you like choice or select chewy fat over less flavorful tender beef okay.  It is a matter of taste.  Prime or wague is far superior to skirt in my opinion.

To be fair I have never had wague or prime fajita.  Maybe it is better.

Really?  I am interested to hear why.  Everybody has different taste.

While steak is great and I love it, a really great burger is hard to beat. Maybe it has to do with having so many so-so burgers and then when you get a great one it sticks out. Kinda like blowjobs.

  Fair enough. It's all about personal taste.  I have a similar opinion of steaks.  There are two steaks that are some of the best things I have ever eaten.

Good fatty meat cooked to your liking on a toasted bun or texas toast with your choice of melted cheese, toppings and sauce put burgers way over the edge for me.

  Cool.  We can disagree.  A veal porterhouse with garlic, black pepper and salt perfectly grilled is way over the top for me.  So is the off menu bone in chili rubbed ribeye at SW steakhouse.

ETA:  To me steak is all about the meat.  Cheese, toppings, sauce, bread distract from the meat.  It is like a casserole.

I'd eat all that too.

The cut I can't stand is the baseball cut. It was all the rage for a while, but that's just not how meat should be cut. Nor cooked.

And yeah, I'm pretty much a bone-in ribeye kind of guy.

Will not try to change your mind,
Hoinestly, I've never cooked a steak in my life. Don't know how.

Tri tips, on the other hand...OMFG :headbanger:

Costco used to have the pre marinated Mortons that was the best I ever taster / cooked. https://d1fywv0iz2cv2w.cloudfront.net/product-image/v201610/e51da3bbf208ed5ca59e24e8ba626a7d.jpeg

My own attempts at marinating have fell way short :(

Dammit....I've got a you tube vid about it, (me sucking at the marrynade) but I can't find it right now

Oh, veal Porter House. Best meal I ever had.

Literally, didn't even have to touch a knife.

Ribeye then Filet. It’s really the only two options.  Bottom line.

Now, you can do lots of things with beef, all sorts of stuff,  but simply sated is above for a singular steak.

I will drink cheap light beer. I will not eat anything prepared on a gas grill. A turd cooked on charcoal is worthy of eating.

True, but bad burgers are more plentiful than bad steaks. Plus, places tend to make burgers too big to eat and put too much on them. It's a minefield out there.

I’ve had tons of good burgers. They seem more plentiful than a good steak. Steak is either not cooked right or isn’t seasoned that well and is bland. There’s only a few places I’ve found that actually season the steak well. It’s like places are afraid to put salt on the dam thing 😒

Filet minon in between rare and med. Good glass of wine. Burgers on charcoal with hickory wood chips. I'm not a steak snob. I will totally eat a fatty sirloin from Waffle House which by the way, sells more steaks than anyone in the US. Getting old though so I have to go leaner.

Burgers are another thing. I am a burger snob. I started making bison burgers and my wife makes these amazing hamburger buns. Butter lettuce, saute onions, avocado, good cheese. I rarely if ever will eat a fast food burger or one from a restaurant.

Oh, and tri tip is good. I used it in a slow cooker meal. Man, it was delicious. Normally I don't get that but for a while had to get what was available during the Chinese Batshlt Crisis.
