The Irishman

Recommended Posts

3 hours and 20 minutes of the worst 'gangster' movie you'll ever see.  It's about Jimmy Hoffa getting killed, but it's slow as hell and the same old re-hashed formula, just much less interesting - Deniro and Pesci as Italian 70's gangsters, narration throughout the film, and add mow-town music.   Scorsese directed it, but anyone who's seen Goodfellas or Casino could've made that piece of crap.

But according to critics, it's an amazing piece of art.  Per Wiki....

Quote

On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 96% based on 427 reviews, with an average rating of 8.77/10. The website's critics consensus reads: "An epic gangster drama that earns its extended runtime, The Irishman finds Martin Scorsese revisiting familiar themes to poignant, funny, and profound effect."  Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 94 out of 100 based on 55 critics, indicating "universal acclaim"

At the 92nd Academy Awards, The Irishman received 10 nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Pacino and Pesci, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects, although it failed to win any. It was also nominated for five awards at the 77th Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.

If you liked that movie, you're an idiot.

Agree. I don’t know how many times I have watched Godfellas and Casino. I have no desire to revisit this boring, unfunny depressing work. Plus the soundtrack didn’t suck, it was non - existent. Too cheap to spring for the music.

Gansta movies, especially about Hoffa, are my catnip.

This certainly wasn't The Godfather or Goodfellas....but it had star power and Hoffa - wasn't terrible.

They did the same with Manchester By the Sea. My wife and I both looked at each other after and said WTF was this POS movie yet it wins all these awards.

Holly shlt did it suck. Who are these people raving about it. I needed to know so I never watch anything they recommend again. Thankfully our opinions were confirmed. Amazon reviews consensus total crap movie.

I'm ok with crap but not fake award winning crap. If I want crap I want to know it sucks like a Mark Walberg or Will Smith movie.

No Irish or Jew jokes. In a movie about an Irishman and some Jewish gangsters. Yeah, that’s realistic. Scorsese went woke.

You know Di nero's agent is begging on his knees to DC and Marvel. Anything, he'll take any part in a Super Hero movie. Thanks for the creepy Joker movie but no sequel potential since he was killed. What about a gangster villain?

I tried to get through it and couldn't. I've yet to make it to the end. The worst part was the make-up.

Scorcese hasn’t made a movie I’ve liked since The Departed and that was the first movie of his I’ve liked since Casino. Everyone I know who’s seen The Irishman says it sucked. And it’s 3 hours - hard pass.
