Mashed Taters

Recommended Posts

First off, it's not mash potatoes. It's mashed potatoes. Just like it's not fry rice it's fried rice you dumbass. F***, welcome to phonetical America.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

Now, on to the taters. What's your recipe, method of preparation?

Skin on? Skin off? Boil in broth? Or just plain water? Saltwater? Do you blend or Whip or mash your taters? Personally, I think using a blender is cheating.

Cold milk? Hot milk? Cream? Half-and-half? Do you salt the water and not the taters? Or both? You put anything else in them? Me? I was raised with green onion tops. Which guys, are different than chives. At least I think so. It's a derivation of an Irish dish called colcannon. Except over there, they used leeks.

Some people swear by baking their taters before getting about the business of turning them into mashed potatoes.

Do you rely on one particular type of potato?

We're coming up on the holiday season and I think it's important to let us know what kind of person you are by the way you make your mashed potatoes.

And, for the record, if you use potato flakes or instant mashed potatoes of any kind? Punch yourself in the balls repeatedly. Everyday. The rest of your life.

My older bro growing up LOVED the flaked boxed taters.  So my Mom, trying to please him at times and probably because it was easier, would sometimes serve them. I HATED them....But growing up in my house, you ate what was put in front of you.  Period.

Stupid older brother

Steam the potatoes first then we put them in the Kitchen aid blender skin on. Add milk, butter, salt pepper. I like potatoes but really laid off since it's a disguised sugar. I consider tater tots, fries junk food. Like them but don't keep it in the house unless grilling burgers on the weekend.

I did buy a bag of hashbrowns recently but only make them on a Sun morning for extra fuel for doing a full day of yard work.

Small new potatoes likely make nice anal beads. Maybe you can report back.

Other times:  boil gold potatoes (thinner skin) Mash with butter, salt, pepper and a little milk.
