The Outfield had several great songs - I would never mention them in any 1 hit wonder convo.

The 80s were full of them - some of my favorites:

Der Kommissar - Afte the Fire

Birds Fly - The Icicle Works

Love Plus One - Haircut 100

Major Tom - Peter Schlilling

was it the Icicle Works that did Whisper to a Scream.  eta...ha, looked this up, its the same song, Birds Fly(Whisper to a Scream)

Mexican Radio by Wall of Voodoo was my favorite.

Detachable was good to, surprisingly that whole album is good.

Gary Numan "Cars" is another good one.   Here he is performing it with NIN. Trent Reznor rocking the sh1t out of the tambourine. :headbanger:

While we're at it, here's another pretty good one by Gary Numan.

And if it sounds familiar, it may be because it was sampled by another one-hit wonder, Basement Jaxx, something I didn't find out until earlier this year.
