David Montgomery: Buy Low ?

Recommended Posts

What We Know

1: He's in the concussion protocol.

2: He won't play this week (Bye)

3: He hasn't been very good this year. (Bears 32nd in rushing)

4: According to Yahoo, he's 92.00% rostered

5: ‘If’ he comes through the concussion protocol OK

6: ‘If’ you're someone who desperately needs a RB

7: ‘If’ you're in one of the 8.00% of leagues where he's available,  his schedule starting week 12 is mouthwatering.

Based on his points per game avg, in non ppr , he’s a low rb3.

If he was to become available I would pick him up.

Horrid offense. Horrible offensive line.  Multiple injuries this year.  Essentially had the backfield to himself and didn't produce.   What's not to like?

He’s a RB you should trade for if:  The Monty owner has at least 2 other better RBs and a real need for WR. You REALLY need a RB and have a deep WR corp and u can trade one away that u won’t miss.  That’s the only way I’d take a chance on Monty.  Schedule is great, but man that offense looks putrid. Can’t move the ball at all, and Trubisky likely back as starter.

Montgomery avg 8 points per game non ppr, Akers 4, I’ll pick up Montgomery if he was to become available

I shouldn't have included the 'Buy Low' in the thread title.

Wasn't saying anyone should buy, just pointing out that if someone happened to be in one of the leagues where he's available, & needed to fill a flex position, because of his upcoming schedule, it might be worth picking him up.

I don’t know how much stock I put in GB being terrible against the run. Three of their games were vs Minnesota and NO. They held down the more pedestrian running games. Chicago isn’t even pedestrian.

I have montgomery and he's a wasted roster space.  chicago is awful and montgomery has to be one of the worst starting RBs in the league.  Definitely one of the least explosive.

The best news you could get is that he is out and you have to start someone better.

Good point, & a reminder that when you're looking at these stats, you have to keep variables like that in mind.

Here's another case. One that makes a team look 'better' than they actually are.

Because of awful weather in their last 2 games, opposing QBs had these #'s against the Browns.

Week 8 Raiders. Carr 111 yards & one TD
Week 10 Texans. Watson 163 yds & 1 TD

This makes their pass D look more formidable than it actually is.

The bears are on their bye week. I haven't seen anything new regarding his concussion either.

Exactly. Stats are like bikinis. They show a lot, but they don’t show everything.

I have Monty and had to play him with Chubb and Gaskin injured.  I'm keeping him "just in case".  But, I wouldn't go out of my way to acquire him with other #2 backs available who score more (like Edmonds)

Wouldn’t go out of my way to get him either, but if he’s drop, I have some one I can let go for a rb3. N

He’s small, slow, not very athletic IMO. He went to a small school. I’m not sure why anyone, including the bears, were ever high on him.

I passed on Montgomery, picked up Mostert instead. My opponent for week 12 picked up Montgomery & is playing him against me tonight.

I have a huge lead, but anything is possible in FF.

So we'll soon find out if I was onto something, or on something when I kinda/sorta recommended him.

Nagy might rival Gase for former players who perform once they escape his clutches. Montgomery will find success elsewhere.

Still crazy that the heirs of Halas are this clueless about football.

Yeah still a Rb3.

He had a good game, owner in my league kept him.

How’s your lead looking now?  (Not trying to sound snarky)

Still 20+ pts ahead. I have Russell Wilson & the Seattle kicker, he has Lockett & Roethlisberger tomorrow.

First carry.. takes it to the house for 80 yard TD run.  He’s going to win some teams fantasy championships.

And then he only got 5 more carries so far. It's the end of the 3rd quarter in a 33-7 blowout. Did he get hurt or something? Nope. Just one more carry and now a catch. Great to see him getting some receptions.

Not if they keep pulling him at the goalline for Patterson.
