I'm worried about a friend of mine

Doesn't sound like you did from my vantage point. Sounds like you were kinda leaning that it was, no?

I sorta knew deep down it was best to not give him the entire $700, so I gave him $200.  That's what friends do. but I can't babysit forever.

Just out of curiosity. How were the wife and kid before bankrupting the household and the cocaine binge?

I think (at least for me). This needs to be known.

Fine. he has a daughter too.  No one knew he was depleting the family funds. We are only talking about like 6 grand here, not 60 grand

correct

I can't think of any either.  All of my friends are married, good/great jobs, and no drug/alcohol problems to my knowledge.

My brother in law struggles with alcohol addiction.  I'd consider him a friend I guess, but he wouldn't be if it weren't for being married to my sister.  I guess I've always taken the approach that I don't want to get involved with people who could harm my future by either jeopardizing my job or harming my wife/kids.  90% of my friends are also conservative.

im just messing with edjr a bit. i have older friends for sure that had drug and alcohol problems. seems the real idiot friends stayed single though...none really that had bad divorces, no money or homes or anything like that. definitely none that had a son standing over them threatening to kill them :P

and when you're married with kids you kinda tend to filter out the drama over the years. would of course help out any friend in need though.

Well, then. If his wife was even halfway decent. And his son and daughter were good kids.

Then to me he brought all these problems on himself. My best wishes to his family. Take the trash out.

700 bucks is probably for drugs for the kid. If your gonna take out 700 to cover say rent why not take out 3100 for 3 months rent.  700 seems suspicious.

This has been going on for years. Just getting around to a divorce. A few years ago, Bob kinda went and spent all their savings on cocaine. Hence the hostility.

That would esplain why he's a friend of yours.   HTH
