jrokh 567 Posted November 25, 2020 Meh, Brownies still a decent start, but this news makes them less palatable. Glennon is more conservative, game manager type. 60% career comp, 36td 20 Int. He can run a little bit,. I expect to see a ton of James Robinson in this one.

lod001 1,235 Posted November 25, 2020 Gotta keep their slim chances at Trevor Lawrence on the table. Miami would be wise to lose to the Jets so they don't spend the next 15 years getting beat up by the Jet led Lawrence. Jax is 1 game behind it the sweepstakes. Raheem Morris wanted Josh Freeman, so he was their guy, in 2009. Morris was fired after 3 years, because he sucked and Greg Schiano was brought in. That debacle only lasted 2 years, but sandwiched in those 2 years was Mike Glennon. A 3rd round pick in 2013, was drafted in case Freeman didn't finish his 5th year... which was a safe assumption. He was not necessarily expected to be the heir apparent, but he was never really given a chance. He actually played 'ok' in his rookie season. He had no real offseason preparations as it was all about Freeman, in hopes the switch would flip. No surprise to Bucs fans, not only did Freeman not flip the switch... or even improve, he was cut after 4 games. Anyway, at the conclusion of the 2013 season, both Schiano and GM (Mark Dominik), were fired and in came Jason Licht and Lovie Smith. Glennon didn't play poorly in 2013, but he was a Mark Dominik pick. Both Licht and Lovie wanted their own guy and the 2014 draft wasn't chock full of QB's, so the Bucs signed Josh McCown to be their sacrificial lamb. Even though McCown sucked before he got hurt and missed 5 games, they put him back in after Glennon was 1-4 and played reasonably well. They must have figured that they'd win more games with Glennon, so they went back to McCown where he'd finish with a 1-10 record in 11 starts. That off season was the one that brought us the wonders of Jameis Winston. After his contract was up in 2017, he signed with the Bears who just traded up to take Trubisky #2 in the draft. Glennon was never going to get a real chance to play. He started the first 4 games and while not terrible, did throw a few too many picks, and hence got benched. Clearly Trubisky wasn't a better option. The funny thing is that everywhere Glennon was, he was always better than the starter, but never was given a chance because the teams spent high picks on the other guy (Bucs: Freeman & Winston, Bears: Trubisky, Cardinals: Rosen), before landing in Oakland behind Carr. Now in Jacksonville, Glennon will have a half dozen games to show what he's learned in his time in the NFL. I hope he does well.
