Let’s talk Toobin

Recommended Posts

I am really surprised at the sentiments in this thread.

Of course he should be fired. He was a very public face of a company and was jerking off in a meeting.

People get fired for way way less.

I struggle with the approach of throwing people away over a mistake.

A mistake is “oops, I left my browser open and there was pron on the screen, or I sent a sext to the wrong number.”

Pulling your cack out and jerking off while on camera in a meeting is a different thing, it was intentional, and could be called a crime.

And there are many many people that deserve a shot at that gig.

Nobody seems to have much problem with throwing people away because they said the N word back in the day, or wore blackface at a party in the 70s, or whatever. This is worse.

At the very least, he should have to work his way back up.

If I'm the head of CNN, he's gone. How is he supposed to represent my company now with any credibility?

Second chance? Maybe. Someday. Not so soon.

Yeah, nobody can take this guy seriously anymore. He’s a walking joke.
I’m glad they brought him back. I’ll chuckle anytime I see him on TV at the gym or the airport.

Let's be clear on one point, CNN is not "news" it is activist journalism, it is not credible in any sense of that word

Oh I agree. But many, many, do not. My father has sadly become a CNN borg in his retirement.

CNN and the MSM used to be more credible than Fox and other right wing media. The right wing media has stayed the same and cnn and the msm have plummeted. Race to the bottom, and the left won

It is amazing how quickly MSM devolved.   Fox was cartoonish for years, unwatchable.  Then suddenly its like MSM flipped the script entirely....

Let him who has never been caught jerking off during a work meeting cast the first stone.

One of my store managers (also a good friend) admitted to me that he used to bang his assistant store mgr. in his office during my weekly conference calls.  We still laugh about it.

Just the once to my knowledge. Even that is a waste of time in Tennessee.

He did find out my nephew was going to cast his first vote ever for Trump, and lectured him for hours.

In the end however, my nephew couldn't vote, because my dumbass brother was not aware you have to register first.

Sounds like your dad has boomer guilt. Many of them do. No generation has been given so much and done so little to deserve it, so it makes sense.

Nah. Dad grew up dirt poor on a farm in bfe Tennessee. Joined the navy to get out, and eventually made himself a fortune. Used to be a member of the sons of confederate veterans and still has pictures of Robert e Lee, stonewall Jackson, and Nathan Bedford Forrest hanging in his home office.

He's always been a Democrat, but more of a ”friend of the working man” kind.

He's certainly not a white guilt guy.

I dunno man. I stay the hell out of that sh!t, and living a few thousand miles away, I'm not a part of those discussions much.

Whenever I talk about Trump, he starts on “you're too poor to vote Trump. You don't have Healthcare... i pay less in taxes than my secretary, and I'm rich,”yadda yadda.

I'd actually be curious what he thinks of the culture war crap, but we all try to avoid winding him up. We don't want to hear it, and he's an old man and a heart patient.

My brother conversely is a gun nut (like sniper rifle and AR enthusiast) conspiracy theorist guy. My sister and I are the moderates in the family.

Whatever he was, he's a limo lib now.  Complains about not having to pay enough taxes, and doesn't realize that the left abandoned the working middle class around 1970 because he doesn't struggle. Hasn't struck him how much he prospers under any administration, because the deck is stacked for him.  ignores that transfer of wealth in this country is strictly between the middle and lower classes.  I know many of em.

Yeah. That's accurate.

I helped him plan his estate. He certainly isn't interested in “giving any money to the focking government,” exact quote.

There's a lot of hypocrisy there, which tends to be true of a lot of folks on both sides.

I don’t get why they brought him back? Is he that good for ratings? Anyone want to take a whack at explaining it?

It's in the house. Anybody storming that's gonna have issues with massive bleeding.

I don’t see it as hypocrisy. The government should get from me a miniscule fraction of what it gets from guys like Bezos and Buffet. If it doesn’t get d1ck from them then why the fock would I be asked to contribute anything? Make those guys pay and I’d be happy to have a huge estate tax, like 80% (because the heirs never worked for that money, so it’s the absolute best thing to tax), and I’d gladly pay it—so long as the mega wealthy did too.

You were doing really well until the end. The transfer of wealth in this country is from everyone to the corporate elite. The middle to lower class stuff is what they hammer home to keep your anger directed at the poors.

Right. And” white” privilege isn’t meant to keep your anger at all  the whites, instead of the privileged? Whatever happened to that “one percent” stuff that was coming from the left during Obama? Him and Hillary redirected that stuff right quick.  Those are their people.

Some folks absolutely can’t help but see this issue in terms of Dems vs. Reps. It’s like a mental prison. They’re the usual mark for charlatans like Maddow amd Tucker.

You know, rubes. :(

True. Glad you understand the real situation. Weird you’d find supporting a billionaire real estate mogul who cut taxes for the super wealthy as the answer, though. Seems like you’re actually a Bernie guy :shocking:

Yes and I am guilty of this myself from time to time. However it doesn’t seem like many of the bored liberals have truly fallen for their side of it. Much as the righties rant against all the woke stuff, I’ve hardly seen any defense of it here from anyone.

Anyway, your point is very well taken.

The first  time I voted for Trump it was about Fock her, I didn’t think he would win.    The second time it was about Fock you. Plus he kicked ass. Also, I got a tax break too. Why do you people keep saying I didn’t? And I tend to stop listening to socialists like Bernie after they have bought their third home , that one on the lake, and an 80k sports car, all the  while working for the “people” . I’m nuttty like that. Oh yeah, flying private and pushing the green new deal.

So basically you’re full of sh1t. I don’t know why you bother putting up the “for the little guy” act. Is that just to provide cover for your “I used to be a democrat” claim?
