WEEK 17 CHAMPIONSHIP- Who to replace your sitting studs?

Recommended Posts

Don't like playing leagues with week 17 title game but nonetheless week 17 can be a chance to show off your fantasy football prowess & knowledge. So, what players would you take a shot on in week 17 at QB,RB,WR,TE,PK,DEF, to win you your well deserved league title in the SIT & SPIN BOWL. Name 1 to 3 players/team for each position who you think will crown you king and why they will do so. I'm sure there will be some players/teams named that others consider non-viable but it these kinda players that will ACTUALLY lead your team to the promised land.

FFTODAY, in my opinion has the most knowledgeable, insightful and strategic minds around in the fantasy world and I'm very much interested in what the experts here on the board consider theirs star replacements to aid any other week 17 title seekers. After there's some replies I will give my own list of guys and explain why I chose them. Thanks and your input is much appreciated.

I really hope it works out for you (and it might, he looked good last week), but the name Boone sends cold chills up my spine. He cost me a championship last year in week 16 when he got the start against the Packers. Laid a total egg. Of course the next week he went off....

Prime matchup against the Lions, who have quit and let gaskins run wild last week. I read that Mattison is expected back this week too:

Sometimes the best offense is a good defense!

Smart move.

I certainly wouldn't call him a stud (just under 1000 yards & only 3 TD's) & he's not 'sitting' but I suddenly need to find a replacement for Cooper Kupp.

Sterling Shepard

Yeah when I picked up Boone early today, I hadn’t heard about Mattison coming back, now I see it looks like he might be back, I’ll see what happens , lol trying to find some way to pull this one out.  Did some house cleaning based on players out this weekend, so I did pick up D Will of KC also.

Thank you.

Looks like T Hill is sitting, that’s a tough one for me. Darn it.

Could be a good one, if I may ask, who’s else , like the next three or four are available in your league.

Keke Coutee: Home vs The Titans

T.Y. Hilton: Home Vs the Jags

Emmanuel Sanders @Panthers

Of these 3, Sanders seems to be the most obvious choice, but the Panthers are pretty tough on opposing WR's

They basically shut down Rogers & Adams week 15 in Green Bay. As hot as those 2 have been recently, it's pretty impressive.

Shepherd: Home Vs Dallas

What I like about the giants versus cowboys game is this:

Despite combining for 11 wins on the season, both the Cowboys and Giants each still have a path to the playoffs, but they need help. Each team would need a win in this game along with a loss by Washington in the Sunday night game. Obviously, both the Giants and Cowboys should be playing to win.

I’m sorry, two more questions, first , is this a ppr? And second , is there any Niners WRs available?

I read that Aiyuk is out , and that D Samuel missed practice today?

NON PPR. It doesn't sound promising for Deebo (he's also unavailable to me) & as you said, Aiyuk is out.  They do have one other wide receiver I think his name might be Richie James who had 1 monster week when both of the aforementioned wide receivers were out earlier this year. Kendrick Bourne is also available.

If Alex Smith plays, then Cam Friggin" Sims is a longshot upside play against Philly....esp if Scary Terry sits again. At least 8 targets in 3 of the last 4 games.

We saw what the trio of Dallas WR's just did to them.

Malcolm Brown could be an option in week 17 also, OP.

Cardinals can be run on, and the only time he was given over 11 carries all year was in week 1, when he went 18/79/2 and added 3 catches for 31 yards.

For those looking for ultimate upside, Richie James is the call. That one monster week he had netted over 24 points....in non-ppr! 33.4 in ppr.

Seahawks have stiffened a bit against the pass, but for a hail mary I would roll James over Bourne.

I just read that Shepherd is limited with rib issues.

Im kinda leaning towards Hilton.

Dalvin Cook will not play Week 17 after his father unexpectedly passed away. Mattison and Boone, pretty solid options. Also, Ameer Abdullah is pretty good too. I would rank them Mattison, Abdullah, and Boone in that order imo. Mattison had limited Wednesday practice with concussion issue, possibly still lingering. Full Back CJ Ham limited practice also; with quad injury and was out vs Saints in Week 16.

Bold prediction that Abdullah will score a TD and not as bold, the Vikings defense won't do that great against the run again. Leading to DeAndre Swift and Adrian Peterson having good games. Maybe, Kerryon Johnson too at RB in more of the 4th quarter timing. Harrison Smith, safety of Vikings most likely keying on TJ Hockensen and Marvin Jones; then focusing on the RBs I mentioned. (Trying to stop pass and run attacks)

Think after Cook, it’s tough one to decide.

I think Swift should have an outstanding game, but all three Lions Rbs are rostered, so is Mattison.

So it’s a shot in the dark.

Im already looking at who else might be available in my league for Boone.

With Goedert likely out, Ertz may finally get that good game that owners were hoping for all year...

Some good info. Couple of leagues on ESPN I'm in title games. Of course they run the 2 week version of weeks 16& 17. In good shape in both heading into week 17. There's a.few.guys available I might scoop and.shove into the lineup..What the heck, supposed to have fun in fantasy anyway, right. One guy I thinks gonna pop is..... QB PHILIP RIVERS @ Jags.- Could be his last game period in the NFL so why not go out with a bang. I'm sure his slinging will net INT's, maybe 3, but he could just as easy throw 3 TDs too. I think Hiltin, Pascal and Taylor all get tds. RIVERS- 333 yds pass,3tds,3 it's.

Another guy I think who could be title game worthy start from the NFC North would be RB AJ DILLON. Had a pretty good week 16 and the Packers will want to make sure Jones is good to go in the playoffs thus I see Dillon getting a decent workload. Little tougher running against the Bears but if GB stays committed to the run in this game Dillon will reward fantasy owners who plugged him into their lineup I could see him getting 3 catches/16 yds, 17 carries 104 yds and 1 TD.

One more guy who might end up with a monster game would be Carolina Panthers WR CURTIS SAMUEL. The exception will be his points will come outta the running game since Davis & CMC won't play. Saints defense isn't bad and the Panthers will need to put points on the board if they even want a scintillaof beating them. DJ MOORE & ROBBY ANDERSON are gonna demand the coverage which will leave SAMUEL all by himself with lesser DB talent than the other two will garner. Soon, bold to say but there could be a chance Samuel busts out big time with 3 tds. I know, a little out on a limb, yet it is possible  2tds is much more feasible but ya never know. WR CURTIS SAMUEL-  5 catches/49yds/1 td//// 9 carries/77yds/2 tds.

All 3 of these guys aren't rostered alot in many ESPN league so get 'em in your lineups and you could be putting on the crown in your league.

I know there'll be skeptics with these projections, and don't beat me up too bad, but this is the NFL(Nice Fling Lineup) where on any given Sunday anything possible

Oh, just a little side note, GO 49ERS. Kick the shiot outta the Seattle Seahawks(my grandsons team). Sorry little buddy.

Forgot. I agree Stonewall if Goedert's out and Ertz can stay on the field he'll definitely score a td. I know this for a fact.'cause my neighbors an Eagles fan and he's a real jersey so Ertz will score just so he can tick me off with his absurd celebrations. Guy goes off even if the get a tackle for a 1 yd loss, lol.

Sounds like a real tool. He may be celebrating Boston Scott too, with Sanders out.

Scott has shown some late-season heroics before.
