Anybody using an Oculus?

Recommended Posts

It’s ok, there are some decent games. And there are also immersive travel experiences, other stuff, it’s pretty cool

I am sure it is fun for a little bit.

Buy it and give us a review.

I did buy one. Just trying to learn from the Geeks.

I wanted to play skyrim in vr, you can do it on the Oculus but will require some IT work.

Half life is probably one of the best games for it. VR was pre infantile stages when it first came out when I was a kid. Its still in the baby stages imo. Imagine the polish of current console or computer games, then imagine how far VR really has to go to get to that point

I am curious about the psvr2 that will be forthcoming... But I kind of suspect it will be one of those things that's cool for an hour and then I never use again.

And I read something about vr games on ps5 being controlled by me actually moving. Fock that, if I wanted to move I'd actually go outside.

Virtual Reality will never be mainstream in our lifetimes.  As Frozen said, it's got A LOT of polishing to do.  Even if the graphics were incredible, there's another big problem....  nobody wants to move around for hours while gaming, not to mention wearing something over their face.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's true.  Someday it'll be useful for work related stuff or taking tours of homes/places/etc.  But gaming wise, forget it.

Instead, i see more of augmented reality becoming popular. They already had some success with Pokémon Go. So I can see more games like that coming out. Unless some unexpected breakthrough occurs, VR won’t happen anytime soon

I think VR and AR are closer than you think to being very big players in work and gaming. I believe that it is within the next 10 years that it will be mainstream.

People said that 20 years ago, mainly because they wanted it to be true.  But here we are.

See ya in another 20 years when it's still nowhere close to what people expect.

I heard about the possibly of VR someday being used for concerts... get a front row seat at your favorite band.  Sounds interesting, but the graphics better be incredible to sell those tickets.  Otherwise, people would just rather watch it on tv and not wear goggles for HOURS.

Sometimes technology just doesn't increase the way people expect. Remember that iconic photo of the 1950's audience wearing 3d glasses?  If you'd asked that audience - "what will movies be like in 70 years?"  they would've predicted all kinds of crazy futuristic stuff.  Nope.  It's still the same.  And if you wanna watch 3d, you still have to wear those damn glasses.

I found the porn or at least some. Not quite as awe inspiring as I would hope.

Imagine the embarrassment of your mom walking in on you beating off with a VR mask on.

I go out for a quart of milk, I come home and find my son treating his body like it was an amusement park!

I had your mom blow me while I was watching some hot babysitter VR porn. Win-Win!

Yeah, I can see that being cool. Events. Concerts. Sporting events. Behind the scenes tours.

Travel too. Walk through the world's famous sites without all the downside.

There is an Oculus game that does a walk through of Disney's Star Wars galaxy edge areas in Disneyland and Disney World.

First 10 Minutes of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge VR Game on Oculus Quest 2 - YouTube

The money isn't there to do it yet, but a VR movie could be cool. Like you are a grunt in the d day scene in saving private Ryan.

Of course to have full 360 viewing that file would be freaking massive.
