The prerequisite for civil war is widespread loss of trust among the people. For example, hundreds of thousands marched against the US government in the 1960s, but the nation remained stable because trust was actually very high among the overall population. Overall, the Russian people have a lot of trust in their government and Putin. Putin himself is very popular. So there is no threat of civil war in Russia. The same cannot be said for the US, where trust has collapsed.

Voltaire 4,558 Posted January 24, 2021 Putin hates the corporatist globalist elites in the west, so he and I have that in common. I was more than happy to see his puppet win the war in Syria. Better Assad than ISIS. But, then I have to stay alert and can't warm to him because every now and then, he does things like this to remind everyone that he's a rat-bastard himself playing his own totalitarian games in Russia. Being the enemy of your enemy does not make him your friend.

Voltaire 4,558 Posted January 24, 2021 1 hour ago, Cdub100 said: Are we sure this dude isn't some western POS funded by (((certain))) chosen people A couple of years ago, I saw a top adviser of his give an interview talking about the flaws of the west, it was an eye-opening and refreshing take, he had great insight and knew us really well. Really spot on observations from the outside, it was the closest thing I've seen to a modern day Alexis d'Tocqueville interview. For most of it, he was sharply critical of how we'd allowed our ideals and promise as a nation/civilization to be hijacked by corrupt insiders. There was both a love/respect for the west and a disappointment in him. On most points, I couldn't help but agree with him. To answer your Q directly, his answers are not in any way the sort of things you would say if you were being controlled by George Soros. I'll try to dig it up. edit here it is. Fair warning, google considers him "the most dangerous philosopher in the world" and, since I can never remember his name, an easy way to find him by typing that in your search engine. He's a big critic of individualism and is heavily pro-Russia, two things which, I can't say I agree on at all. I only want to say how in awe I was at how accurately he's diagnosed our problems.:

The same cannot be said for the US, where trust has collapsed. You will not have a civil war here anytime soon and probably ever. To have an actual Civil war here you would have to have at least one State where the State government wanted to break away. I have not seen anything even close to that. You have to have a home base not just a bunch of angry people lashing out somewhere. I know a lot of people unhappy about the elections but not one is willing to give up their home and business to fight the government. In addition all are supporters of the military and even if they had the weapons they would not harm a member of the US military.
