I am unsure whether the animals are being abused, I know what the article said, but you have to remember that PETA was the people that originally reported this. They are not a very trustworthy organization and will lie to get their way. I think it would be possible to humanly use monkeys in the picking of coconuts and in fact they may enjoy that life better than being a wild monkey. Most domestic animals such as cats have it better than their wild/stray variants.

I want to stress this, I am not an animal hater, If for some reason the monkeys are being abused that changes my opinion, however I do not believe PETA.

I'm no fan of PETA but no, Monkeys should not be put in to forced labor.  In a few hundred years when the monkeys rule the Earth I want them to treat my family favorably.

I guess I need to stop using one of my favorite lines - “if it were easy, then we would have monkeys do it instead of you.”

Of course HR encouraged that a while ago.

Timely, as we watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night.

I don't give a fock about abusing monkeys. Not why I'm opposed.

It shouldn't be allowed because people need jobs.

There should be a robot/kiosk tax hefty enough to make hiring actual humans instead more attractive too.

Everyone needs a job to support their family, regardless of race.

And you're going to ruffle a few feathers using language like that.

Just saying.

After getting fired, the monkeys can file for unemployment benefits while they sue for species discrimination.

We should replace bomb sniffing dogs with PETA activists.
