Restaurants all over the US....worker shortage. Thanks, liberals!

I didn't listen to the video but the other issue is that since these restaurants aren't working at full capacity these workers are probably not going to be working full time and even risk getting laid off again. Who wants to go through all the paperwork and have to struggle until unemployment payments begin again. It's better to stay unemployed and collect checks.

Btw, I don't know anyone getting a check. I'm in Georgia, we barely closed during the pandemic.

No it's not.

You're doing great work in here. 👍

These idiots that wait too long are not going to have a seat at the table once the free $ dries up as it is in mostly R run states.

I'm not agreeing with it! I'm saying, I can't believe how this country is paying so much money to people, why??? Heck, I've not even teleworked not one single day!!! I've had to come in to work while people have been at home "teleworking"(<how I envision my colleagues). I'm on the bus commuting to work, I'm here getting orders from people that are home collecting their pay checks while I'm actually at work. (I'm not complaining, I love my job and to be honest, I spend too much of my time here with ya'll.)

It's frightening the amount of money this administration is spending of our hard earned dollars. Soon, the US dollar will be worthless. This is why I don't vote for people with a liberal, socialist agenda.

People are being paid to stay home, it's that simple.

Whoever compared this to folks not buying a Ford Taurus because it sucks or whatever, that's the dumbest focking analogy I've ever read. Misunderstanding the situation so badly that no amount of explanation could possibly fix it.

Yeah, I was totally behind Kemp when he was like, places need to stay open and teachers need to get back to work. I am totally here for it.

People sure wanted their Amazon packages and Uber Eats delivered promptly. No one was feeling sorry for those people still working. People want the nurses and doctors working. They want someone in the grocery stores every damn day. All the bus drivers and garbage, fire and policeman are working.

Workers or not, I'm surprised restaurants can get enough people to agree to the ridiculous prices.

Then again, if everyone had my buying habits the economy would be in the toilet.

I hear you. I used to bring leftovers to work almost every day because I couldn’t stomach the idea of paying $10 for lunch. I’m finally ok’d enough that I have no frame of reference for what things should cost anymore.

True that, and it pisses me off to no end when you call “customer service” and they start with the “due to COVID-19...” crap. You can’t get COVID through the phone! They’ve just taken the opportunity to blow off their customers

Which proves the point that the people who would be working these jobs, are better off taking the government money than working.  Cut off the government money, they'll go back to work.  In NJ, minimum wage is $11/hr (which I think is already too high, but nonetheless), so a person working a 40 hr week is going to make $440 that week.  Also in NJ, if you got laid off because of COVID, you're entitled to 60% unemployment... meaning, $264.  Now explain to me how simply cutting off that $300 wouldn't immediately fix the problem.  Once that $300 is gone, they have no choice but to go back to work.  It's even more obvious when you factor in people not working 40 hr/wk.

It will definitely help but I think it's TBD in terms of if it would "immediately fix the problem"

I consider 2 weeks immediate because a lot of people these days are on 2-week pay cycles.  So I'm thinking 1 pay period.  These people will realize that there's no more daddy and now they'll have to go back to work.

The unemployment rate is I think around 6% right now so it’s not like a huge % of people are sitting around without jobs and turning down good offers. Most of the complaints about a labor shortage are coming from low wage jobs. If they want workers, they can try raising wages. If not, they can keep whining about a shortage of workers willing to take their menial jobs at slave wages.

Btw, if corporations (not small business owners) paid their employees a living wage then this wouldn't be an issue. Like, why is Amazon currently not paying nor treating it's employees well???

I was more referring to the "fix the problem" part.  Again, I think ending the extra benefits will help a lot but there were definitely some people that don't plan to go back even after that.

I'm not a fan of amazon and really don't use them that I know of. But I'm not really sure of their hiring and employment  practices.

The American Indians may think that killing off most of the indigenous people here was a pretty low point too.

No such thing as indigenous indians to the US. Indians in the US migrated here like anyone else. Indians were nomads who slaughtered each other for land and revenge. They kidnapped women from other tribes, raped them repeatedly, scalped captives alive, buried enemies up to their necks and cut their eyelids off so their eyes would bun in the sun. They formed no national government, no binding treaties on territirial rights, nothing.

As far as they are concerned, they got what they were dishing out. Without the torture that is.

Do people not believe this? Well, the European settlers didn't torture them like they did others. So, that is one difference.
