Hogan

Flair

Stone Cold

Rock

Going back further, you can make an argument for Andre the Giant or Bruno Sammartino.

This is probably the correct answer if every person was polled.  I am not leaving Dusty Rhodes out though, so The Rock has gotta go for me.

Andre the Giant, Rowdy Roddy,  Macho Man are all top 10.

Old school personal fave:  Jimmy Superfly Snuka

If we're going top 10, I would add Undertaker and Sting. Oh, and HBK of course.

The Great Kabuki

LOVED his rivalry with Jimmy Valiant when I was a kid. Kabuki mystified me.

Jimmy Valiant: "Get your Asian in the ring!"

I feel like it's impossible to do wrestling. Just to many factors come into play.

I'll go:

Andre the Giant

Hulk Hogan

Ric Flair

Jerry Lawler

Jim Cornette has done reviews on alot of Dark Side episodes on his podcast.  His are so damn long though.  He's a great historian.

Hulk - I still get goosebumps when I hear "real american" and he comes out

Degeneration X  (Shaun Michaels and HHH during that era were hilarious and awesome)

Rowdy Roddy Piper (greatest heel ever)

The Rock (funny bastard)

I guess. I was a kid in the 70's, that's what we had - all I knew.

Being in Ft. Worth, we went to quite a bit of matches.

You must be thinking about somebody different…

Nope. That's him.  Was an even worse wrestler than Hogan if that's possible.  What was he in WWF for like 3, 4 years?  Rubbish

I love warrior but he wasn't that good. He had a great gimmick and brought a sh1t ton of energy not to mention his interviews are legendary. but he's not even in my top 20

Yea, the Metroplex was basically the home base for Fritz Von Erich and his operations.

My grandpa had something to do with security back at Will Rodgers coliseum back then. Me and my sis got to meet a lot of the guys backstage. It was pretty cool, they were really nice to the kids.

Hogan

Flair

Savage

Sting

----------

Piper and Andre just miss the cut. Second biggest names in the business when it comes to mainstream appeal in the mid to late 80's. But were basically done as in ring performers shortly after. Austin and Rock were bigger stars than everyone (except for Hogan) but don't have longevity in their corner. They were only at the top for 4 years each due to injuries and acting. Hogan, Flair, Savage, and Sting were the faces of pro wrestling in their peak years in the mid 80's to late 90's.

Never liked wresting, even as a kid. Probably because Dad hated it.  In any case, the only wrestler I ever thought was cool was Andre the Giant.

Saw a documentary about his life and it was rather sad. He once said "the world is designed to accommodate handicapped people, blind people and such, but there are no accommodations for big people.  When he took long flights, they had to hold a curtain around him so he could use the restroom because he couldn't fit in the airplane restroom.

I gotta be honest, as a kid the Tag Team matches resonated more.  The ability to fight back and tag in was epic.  I'll rank them as:

1.  The Road Warriors

2. The Rock N' Roll Express

3. The Von Erichs (A&E needs to do a story on this family).

4. The Midnight Express

5. The Hart Foundation

Ric Flair

Shawn Michaels

Dynamite Kid

Ricky Steamboat

I'd put Eddie Guerrero in there but his career was too short.  Died at just age 38.  He should've been wrestling up to 2015-2020.
