Clueless

I can make the gambling connections for most of the movies listed, but not these two?

There is a commonality between the novice gamble in Vegas Vacation and the addicted gambler in Let It Ride.  They don't know when or can't walk away.

I gamble for entertainment.  Dropping $500 bucks at Blackjack is the same as dropping $500 for golf.  If you are continuing to lose but you love the rack on the dealer and the cocktail service is really good, so be it, that is entertainment.  It's like going to Disney or some super luxuries beach resort. Unfortunately, too many times the novice and the addict think the cards will turn and they will win.

Amen brother.  Just presume it is entertainment; if you win it is a bonus.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been in a casino and somebody tells me they have a system.  In response I wave my arms at all of the ornate ceilings and decorations (think Seinfeld) and tell them that they did not build all of this on a business model of you having a system.

  My line is:  They are not building billion dollar casinos on people breaking even!  Anyone that says they regularly break even is lying.

I dropped $800 playing blackjack the other night.  1st time I'd been to a Casino in about 2 years.  That visit will should last me for another 2.  I used to enjoy it more, but it's just not as fun now.

It might be more of a thrill if I were betting $1k per hand instead of $25 or $50.  But I don't really wanna do that.

I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I'm the same way.

Murphy’s Stroke. True story, my uncles brother is Murphy.  Pierce Brosnan is in it.

I know a guy who was on that MIT team; he had a cameo in the movie as well.  He presented about it at our reunion, cool stuff.

Yeah, for me, casinos are like strip clubs — they are only fun if you are drunk with a bunch of fun friends.  That kinda group at a hot craps table, with some random bachelorette parties chicks rolling the dice, is a little slice of heaven.  Sitting alone at a table, not so much, for me anyway.

Shade.... which is still on Prime.  It's probably more of a con movie than gambling but it's better than most mentioned except Let It Ride and Rounders.
