Other than 24/7 covid scare tactics, what are you most looking forward to?

For me.

I have never watched the olympics because I like stick and ball sports.

Will tune into the golf if it is on live during my normal awake hours.

Always stoked for the track sprint events. We're a track family, daughter ran in college (D2) and my son (D1) will this coming year.

Daughter ran 100, 200, & the 4x100.

Son runs the 400 & 4x400.

Love those events, very exciting.

U.S. never should've switched to professional NBA players.  Back when it was college kids, when they won it was a monster upset and exciting.

Now when they win nobody cares because it's expected and when they lose they look like idiots.  Lose - lose.  Why did they switch? To show how mighty the U.S. is?  It came off as arrogant and it's actually pointless.

Any idea why the world record holder for the javelin throw is a white dude? Asking for a racist friend.

Quote

The current (as of 2017) men's world record is held by Jan Železný at 98.48 m

Certain groups quit chucking spears when it was no longer required in order to eat? :dunno:

Power walkers reach a maximum comfortable walking pace of about 5.7 mph. Race walking is done competitively, and national-class male race walkers cover a 20-kilometer -- 12.5-mile -- race in approximately one hour and 30-minutes. That is about 8 to 9 mph.

Speed walkers always look like they're hunting for a bathroom.

Our disgraceful woke womens soccer team lost 3-0 to Sweden.  Sweden was +700 to win in regulation.  Bloodbath.

I hate myself for kind of agreeing with this.   I never thought i would be quietly happy an American outfit lost in the Olympics and I'm disappointed in myself that I wouldn't be terribly upset if the womens soccer team lost...horribly.

Fock em.  The old hags needed to step aside a couple of years ago and let new blood in.  Totally selfish.

According to this article, they stood for the anthem, the kneeling took place at the start of the game by both sides and refs...

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/olympics-soccer-players-kneel-uswnt-090330888.html

[...]At the USA-Sweden game in an empty Tokyo Stadium, at the sound of the referee's whistle, all 11 starters from both teams, plus the ref, dropped to one knee. They stayed there for about 10 seconds with pregame music still playing in the background. They then rose, and a short in-stadium countdown to kickoff commenced.[...]

[...]All 18 USWNT players stood for the anthem on Wednesday. It's unclear if a protest during the anthem would be acceptable under the new IOC rules. (National anthems aren't played before most Olympic events — only afterward, during medal ceremonies.)[...]

Yeah, I seriously doubt the best we have in this country is still a 36yo pink haired, carpet munching freak.

Is that the dude who can't cut it on the men's team, so he plays on the women's team and whines about not getting equal pay?

I used to be a fan of Megan Rapinoe, back before she was just a soccer player. I remember the pass she made to Wambach for a win and thought it was a thing of beauty.

Hate to say now that I'm so completely exhausted with woke-ism that I don't even care to watch her or any of the US women play.
