**official** Olympic Games Tokyo -- 7/23/21 - 8/8/21

Recommended Posts

Katie Ledecky is pretty good at swimming though.   Picks up her second gold and fourth medal of this Olympics, 7th gold in her career.   Also doesn't seem to have an issue putting a mask on shortly after her race.

This is the crap conservatives are talking about.  If this swimmer was black, I guaranfuckingtee  he would be a hero.

liberals are bad for this country.

TOKYO — When athletes become Olympians, their lives and responsibilities change, whether they like it or not. Their singular focus broadens. More is expected of them. They become representatives of one nation and guests of another.

Michael Andrew, the unvaccinated, 22-year-old American swimmer who refused to wear a mask while talking to journalists in the mixed zone Friday morning at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, is a first-time Olympian who by now should have figured out that things are different in Tokyo than they were for him back home.

Instead, somewhere on his journey from self-centered athlete to Michael America, Andrew lost his way.

When he showed up to speak to reporters at a locked-down Olympics in the middle of a pandemic state of emergency, he was asked by USA TODAY Sports why he was not wearing a mask like all of his U.S. teammates.

Michael Andrew would not wear a mask while speaking with the media in Tokyo.

One might have thought he would have realized his mistake, reached for his mask and put it on right then, out of courtesy, if nothing else.

No way. Not this guy.

This is what he said:

“For me, it’s pretty hard to breathe in after kind of sacrificing my body in the water, so I feel like my health is a little more tied to being able to breathe than protecting what’s coming out of my mouth.”

Translation: I couldn’t care less about you, or the pandemic, or the fact I’m not vaccinated. This is all about me.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has an ugly American in its midst.

JFC...is this some National Enquirer bullsh!t?  What a fukin brave "journalist".  I wonder if they asked any un vaxxed black athletes why they haven't gotten the jab?

Yeah, if a woman who broke her focking leg didn't want to try to vault on it, I wouldn't have said anything.

Broken leg fine.

Mental health, punk.

I remember that Kerry Strug vault thing.  Somehow the legend is now she vaulted with a broken ankle.  She had a twisted ankle like every basketball player in the world has had and gotten up walked on it for a few minutes, tied the shoe tighter and kept playing.

She didn't have a broken ankle.

Golf should be a team event.

The camera work for the golf is terrible. Makes the Fox US Open look good.

Soccer. They already have a cup for each continent, the world cup, and hundreds of pro leagues.

That's fine too.

Any team professional sport where winning the Olympics is like 3rd on the list of things to win as an athlete is dumb.

I was thinking about that. Would you rather have a major championship or a gold medal? If I’m ranking them:

The Masters

US Open

British Open

PGA Championship

Gold medal.

As an American sure. Gold medals don't mean much to us. We win them all the time.

If your country never wins gold in anything, that might change the equation.

Why do women athletes wear jewelry in competition?   These beach volleyball chicks have on dangling earrings, and necklaces.

I live in southern California and play a ton of beach volleyball.  I even married a former semi-professional beach volleyball player.   These chicks are some of the most self-absorbed biatches you'll ever meet.  You should see how they treat each other.  There are exceptions, of course.  Some of the ones that are really good know they need to be nice to earn fans.

My wife is always like, "she's a bìtch.  She's alright.  Oh yeah, everyone hates her..." I see them at tournaments and they're all catty as fūck.  Then there's the rich dudes that live on the strand in Manhattan beach that are basically groupies.  They chase them around trying to throw money at them, so it makes them pretty stuck up.

I'd get rid of some of the swimming races.

We get it, ledecki and dressel.  You're the fastest swimmers.  Do we need to know you're the fastest swimmer at 5 different race lengths and 4 different strokes.  I don't even get the whole different swim strokes thing... The goal is to swim the fastest.  Who cares how you swim to do it.

I can't imagine any scenario where a professional golfer would rather win a Gold Medal over a major.

Gold Medals are great, uplifting and cool... But majors are life changing, way more so than an Olympic medal..... Lifetime exemptions to the Masters, PGA Championship and/or British Open, 5-year exemption to the US Open, 5-year exemption to the PGA Tour, huge FedEx points, and on and on.

I didn’t even think about exempt status that comes with winning. Throw in the fact that you get no money for winning a gold medal, I’d rather win the John Deere Classic than a gold medal.

Olympic vault silver medalist replaced Simone Biles in finals

A true competitor and a female athlete to model after.

MyKayla Skinner, the oldest gymnast on the United States' women's team, had a long road to the Tokyo Olympics.

It's a journey that took nearly a decade. Skinner wasn't selected to compete in the 2012 Olympic Trials and then came a step closer in 2016, being chosen as an alternate for the Rio Games, but not an official spot on the team. Now, she has an Olympic silver medal.

When she had a chance to qualify for Tokyo this year, she placed fifth in the all-around and was named as the plus-one specialist. While she didn't participate in the team competition, she traveled with the U.S. to Tokyo as an individual competitor. She replaced Simone Biles in the vault final and won silver

Italian sprinter wins gold and the guy says..hes going to olive garden..

Rich Eisen is trying to be a chris berman clone and is just really bad.

China women's beach volleyball - Wang Xinxin got in her head and forgot how to pass, so Australia picked on her relentlessly.  Surprised she didn't quit.

Oh wait, she's not American so she kept going and got her ass kicked, but at least she finished.

One of them didn’t end up qualifying, which really kicked the Reebok plan in the nuts. The other, I believe got the bronze.

I’m not sure why women athletes wear jewelry, but the better question is, why do we have women athletes. Trying to play sports does nothing for your sandwich making abilities, nor does it give me a freshly ironed shirt.

I think he didn’t qualify because he repeatedly failed the pole vault. He could have lowered the bar, but didn’t.
