It appears the US is headed back to masks and possibly lockdowns, as this delta variant seems to be killing vaccinated people at a good clip. (Cottect me if I'm wrong, just what I see online.)

It’s killing unvaccinated people. Vaccinated people much less likely to get it and even if they do much less likely to then be hospitalized.

Which supported the claim of ~90% efficacy against both infection and hospitalization/death.   Haven't we been over this?

Israel's small sample size is the only actual data pointing to a decline in efficacy against infection (but not really hospitalization/death).

Sorry this argument is dumb.  If "the weakest of the old and fat and sick" died last year, that would mean we would've reached herd immunity, which clearly isn't the case due to the increasing cases.   There were plenty of old and weak and fat and sick people that didn't catch covid last year.

tests are more prevalent and hydrochloroquine isnt as strong against the delta as it was against the china

And yet excess deaths have closely tracked with covid deaths in countries that actually counted covid deaths properly.  Many countries saw significantly more excess deaths than covid deaths likely due to undercounting.   The few countries with less excess deaths (including some less than expected overall) were largely those that locked down hard and/or had an overall good response to covid - https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/coronavirus-excess-deaths-tracker
