Kentucky State Fantasy Football Championship

Recommended Posts

I'm considering joining KSFFC after my 25 year league fell apart due to all the recent BS.  Anyway, I'm looking for any lessons learned from experience in this BIG tournament.  I'm planning to enter the main event.  I've always drafted live with friends.  An online auction with a 90 second timer makes me anxious that I'll get rushed and blunder.  The live options are with strangers at the Caesar's casino and I've never drafted live with strangers; also not sure if the same 90 second rule applies live.  I"m very experienced and know FF pretty well, but I can't find any info on the specifics and others' experiences.    Thanks in advance.  Happy to rate a team or something as a thank you.  Haven't been on the forum in a while.  Lets play some football!

One thing that worked for me was throwing out large bids on a player I'm introducing.  If it was a player I really wanted, I'd throw him out there for like $25, instead of the $1 to $3, like everyone else does.  If someone tried to call my bluff and bid, I'd throw a $5 increase, maybe $10... depending on the player and what I expect his buy price would be.  You can get good players at a little discount.  All that needs to happen is for 1 person to get burned to be in the drivers seat.  My first 3 guys I introduced, I put out there for about 80% of what the expected buy price was, then I'd increase by $3 or $5, once by $10.  After doing that, some guy thought he'd try to run me up.  I put a guy out there for $30.  He upped it $1 and I went $8, he upped it another $1, and I stopped bidding.  He got a mid-range RB2 for $40.  That's a bit of an overpay, but the guy was pissed.  The thing is, you gotta mix it up between guys you like and guys you don't.  You can't keep throwing guys out there you want, then people will know that you'll over bid.  This usually only works for like the first 7 or 8 rounds.  By then, people don't have a whole lot of money.  You also have to make sure not to introduce a player, at a high dollar value, that you absolutely don't want... unless you know someone will over bid.  For example, I don't want Montgomery this year, especially at $30+.  But, I'd be ok if I got him at $20.  So, I'd throw him out there at $15, let someone over bid, add another $5 and then stop bidding.
