Thanks guys - it brings me some comfort being reassured that I'm doing some things right in all this.

A couple of dad's friends ended up setting up a GoFundMe on my behalf, since like 5 people mentioned it before, here's the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/funeral-expense-and-his-beloved-son

And there it is!

A fool and his money

Where is the obituary? have we seen that yet?

Whenever I come here to say someone important in my life has died, I add an obit and never ask for money

We asked him for the GoFundMe at the beginning of the thread.

Well fock Ed, an obit doesn't prove sh!t. They write whatever anyone pays them to write.

Why not demand a sealed death cert?

Perhaps the law in Massachusetts requires some sort of proof of death to publish an obit, but it doesn't anywhere I've ever seen.

So you'd rather not see one, than see one. Especially in this instance

People are always putting up fake obits in low rent messageboard scams.

I'm not donating either way, so ass of rat to me. But I've seen enough on Facebook to convince me. There would have to be a dozen conspirators involved at this point.

I am just saying. if I were to post about someone who died, I would include an obit.  The fact this "kid" found his dads log in, is so sus it's beyond belief. FFT has always been a gullible bunch.

It is a 22 year old kid who just lost his dad, please show some respect.

I'd rather err on the side of respect for a friend and his son.

And hell, my login is saved to half a dozen devices around the house. My wife could post here under my name anytime she likes.

If there was any remaining doubts about the calibration of some people's moral compass......this thread should be confirmation.

I used to run the DNDL right here at FFT. Gary J. LANCE was a long standing member of the league.  He lived in Indiana in 2010

He sent me money via paypal. I have his name and home address at that time.

No obit to be found.

His family didn't care enough to post an obit, but cared enough to post at FFT.

The kids dad just died and you are being a jerk. It is a 22 year old kid that is struggling for money and has no guidance in how to proceed since his father just died and he is practically a kid.

I should not be shocked, but i am shocked at the callous nature of people towards someone who just lost his father.

The obituary will be available soon. I just got back from the funeral home a bit ago, and we did a bunch of papers, as well as picked a photo and wrote the obituary. Will be happy to share here once they put it up on their site.

He didn’t beg for cash you toolbag. He never asked for a thing until someone else brought it up. I do not know who you are but obviously you are a pathetic loser.

You have no faith in humanity and that’s said.

My brother's baby momma did much the same. She told all her coworkers she had cancer. They raised money for her, boss gave her a buttload of paid leave, etc.

Ha I was going to start the post by saying I have no intention to donate. But that does not make it a scam.
Like I said earlier as someone involved in charitable events I loathe GFM.
If you are going to give - give it to his PayPal account.

and Crestsmallwood - we done.
