How often do you cook dinner at home?

Recommended Posts

Ever since moving I'm surrounded by millennials. It seems like they eat out most nights of the week. My neighbor came over to check out my pool and they said they were going out to a local restaurant. They had gone out the previous night too. She was trying to play it off as if they don't go out to eat a lot which they absolutely do. I'm not sure why she was embarrassed.

We cook dinner 5 to 6 nights a week. Maybe it's a motherly thing that you're supposed to cook your family dinner and she felt embarrassed

We'll get pizza one night a week and go out another.   Otherwise we cook at home.

We almost always eat out Friday night and Saturday for lunch.

About once a month we eat out an additional meal.

Cook 6 days a week. Friday is pizza night, go out maybe once per month otherwise.

Every time.  Strangers rarely let me into their kitchen.  :dunno:

Every night. We'll go out for lunch or dinner on a Saturday but, other than that, we're making food at home.

We cook every night.  Every now and again, we will order pizza or Chinese on a Friday.  Hello Fresh 4 nights a week, then Saturday and Sunday we will grill. We were getting bored with our usual dinners, so the Hello Fresh has been a nice change of pace.  The portions are perfect for us too.

Work has been a bear for a while.  Not a lot of prep time.  Take out 4-5 times/wk since August. I’ll normally cook about 5 times per week.

Almost every night.  We like family time around the table and I love cooking.

Not much during HS football season.  Coaching is a major time commitment.

So I grill a few things for the week on Sunday mornings before going to work.

We’re lucky to be together 1-2 nights/week at dinner time.

Things will be back to normal in Nov, and I’ll cook 4 -6 nights/week.

Then it gets crazy again April-July during baseball season.

Cook meals 5 days per week. A couple of days of frozen pizza or chicken nuggets for the kids. We eat out here and there but its a waste of money.

My wife loves to cook so most nights she cooks, plus we are doing keto-ish for my cancer so that rules out a lot of restaurant options.  Between leftovers and meat/cheese/veggies we usually have around, most lunches are home prepared as well.  We'll occasionally do take-out as either a treat or run out of the above options, maybe once every week or two.

Interesting how many routines you guys have listed (ex:  Friday is pizza night).  We probably were more structured when our kids were mooching errrr... young and living here.
