Geek Thanksgiving Plans - and Happy Thanksgiving!

Recommended Posts

We've rented a lake house for the annual family reunion. Such a great time. Great food. Board games. Card games. Football.

I'm on the porch right now, gazing out at the lake, drinking coffee and eating breakfast tacos.

There are a couple of screaming kids but lots of places to get away from them.

What are you up to?

Heading to the Coast at the in-laws.  Traditional Thanksgiving meal.  I’m lucky in that I really do get along with them.

Sounds awesome!

All 3 kids (adults) live in town and are coming over.  Wife made cranberry sauce yesterday.  Baking this afternoon -- pie, bread, cookies -- daughter or two will come over to help, should smell glorious. First holiday in the new house, starting to build memories here.

Technically yes as it’s the southern most tip, but it’s not really considered the outer banks.  Beaufort, NC.

Just going over to my sisters. Everyone’s going over there. Running around today making sure I have everything for what I’m cooking. Also just left Best Buy and bought one of those OLED TVs and having it delivered & mounted.

Before the black Friday sales, bold strategy.

I had been tracking 2 tv on amazon (virtually the same price).  last week one of the sets dropped $300.  Instead of dealing with potential delivery delays and stocking issues, i pulled the trigger.  it was delivered sunday morning.  set up and running well. love it.

Actually Black Friday sales are going on right now. Which is why I went ahead and got it. Normally $2300 for the tv but got it for $1600. OLED TVs are on sale right now so if you want one better go get it

Yea pretty much everywhere is already doing Black Friday sales. Mine will be delivered and installed on Dec 11th (mainly cause that’s literally the only date my wife or I can be home to have it mounted along with the sound bar)

Man I’ve had my TVs since 2010 and 2012. I needed a new one BAD. Especially since I had to take one to Charleston and that left the other one here

That whole eastern shore of NC is nice.  I know some guys that have retired and move out there on the rivers and sounds.  They're in Oriental, Bath, Edenton, Southport, etc.

Got one of those popeyes Cajun turkeys this year to try. Puts us at 3 turkeys this year but I was dying to try one. Heard a lot of good things about it and the gravy you make from the drippings

You better delete that before Ed sees it.

Going to my sister's. Of course dinner is during the Cowboys/Raider game and you can't see the tv from the dining room.

XMas is a special day that most people spend with friends and family.

Some less fortunate people spend it swordfighting here. :(

I have it set to record. Worst case scenario I'll watch it when I get home.
