So 1:30 on Monday afternoon and wife (36D) asks me when was the last time she saw me sober ? I said 25 years ago ! She quit drinking 4 months ago. - I might follow her.

There are always niche fetish audiences out there. Don't sell yourself short.

Best of luck on that journey, it will be difficult but worthwhile.

Every drunk I ever knew is exactly the same.  They all think they are James Bond, when they are really Barney Fife wannabes.

Every drunk I have ever known who bottomed out was done in by Vodka at the end. It’s like they all work their way up to it.

I quit drinking about 3 years ago.

The start of 2022 has been difficult for a number of reasons, and I really have had the urge to pick it up again. If just to be able to blow off steam, or sleep or whatever it is I am needing.

Anyways, difficult spot for me. And hard work.

I probably *could* be. But I also know that having just one gets harder and harder.

I don't really drink for the taste of it, haha.

Known a couple of beer drunks.  30+ a day, but never touched the hard stuff.

Did they Fock up their life? Usually takes the hard stuff to do that. Beer drunks can often function.

Vodka tonic is my favorite drink, but I rarely have more than one in a day, but I can see how bad a pathway it can lead you.

Vodka is the one hard liquor that I can't handle. I can have one or two in something like a black russian or the likes, but otherwise, serious focking headaches get me in the morning.

I'm the same way with rum and sometimes whiskey.

My wife drastically reduced her drinking, and as tempting as it is for me sometimes, I won't touch the Bacardi or Kraken that she no longer touches in the liquor cabinet.

I'm a 6 to 8 beer a day, guy myself. Been that way for a good 20 year's now, if not more.

Got a great life, great family. But, I'd sure have alot more money if I didn't have to spend $100 bucks a week on gas and beer.

Their brains are mush.  Totally wet.  No different than we see from these guys here. They think they are cool and functioning, but they can't hold a job or a relationship.  I know many heavy beer drinkers, but there is a difference between the 15-20 guys and the 30+ guys.

I find that rum is easy to leave sitting on the shelf and not being tempted. unless making ice cream drinks. And how often does anyone do that?

Having a bottle of decent bourbon around though, Two slow sipping glasses a night is not unrealistic for me. It calls me like a siren.

ive been sober for 7 years, 1 month and 18 days.  To think vodka is the last stop on the alcohol train is silly.  I go to weekly meetings, and now have a higher power of my understanding.  Its a wonderful difficult journey..

most of the people i know got into the "rooms" due to consequences.. normal drinkers dont think about their sobriety.. but its all wasted effort if you're not done.. and if you're not.. go get done.

A typical drinking night for me is one strong vodka tonic and two or three glasses of wine, spread out over five hours. I'd really like to quit for a month to see how it makes me feel, and I do go for days without drinking, never drink before 6 p.m. and never have more than one in an hour.

Wine is like potato chips or pizza for me. I can't just have one chip or one slice. And I tend to mindlessly drink it too fast.

We got into old fashions for a spell.

For me, restraint has more to do with caloric intake rather than sobriety. Alcohol has such a fock load of empty calories, and I'd rather be relatively sober and thin than drunk and fat.
