Recent reports suggest it is "highly unlikely" Payton coaches elsewhere in 2022, though empty news cycles will likely pin him to the Cowboys or other fringe contenders. The 58-year-old's .631 win percentage since 2006 ranks fourth-best in the NFL, trailing only the Patriots, Packers and Steelers in that span. Payton made the playoffs in nine out of 15 seasons with the Saints, winning seven division titles and New Orleans' first and only Super Bowl. They got off the plane that night and were heading home. Thousands of Saints fans lined up on the airport service rd to welcome them. In the cold and rain at midnight after the loss. When he saw us he couldn’t believe how much the fans and city gave thanks. He said something along the lines of… This is incredible. Holy sh!t!!! We lost! Fast forward to the NFC championship game against the Vikings, thirteen fans showed up to greet the Vikes that night.
