Sean Payton announces retirement...

Recommended Posts

Sean Payton announced his retirement.

Recent reports suggest it is "highly unlikely" Payton coaches elsewhere in 2022, though empty news cycles will likely pin him to the Cowboys or other fringe contenders. The 58-year-old's .631 win percentage since 2006 ranks fourth-best in the NFL, trailing only the Patriots, Packers and Steelers in that span. Payton made the playoffs in nine out of 15 seasons with the Saints, winning seven division titles and New Orleans' first and only Super Bowl. The team's next coach will inherit -$74,061,841 in cap space and a vacancy under center.

He owns a home in Dallas. Mike McCarthy is half retarded.

Another super bowl winning coach that the Giants let walk out of the building.

I can’t believe it’s been 16 years since he left Giants.

Tell me how Brady and the Bucs faired in their game again?

They made the playoffs in 2 straight years and won the SB in one of them? :dunno:

Well, yeah, the Packer have 13 NFL Championships - the most in the NFL in history.

I can cherry-pick stats too, but my post was about last week's games.  IIRC, both Rodgers AND Brady lost their games, no?

No coach has ever won consistently without a franchise QB.  seems like peyton and tomlin should step down.

Because very few realize this, since 1976... when Tampa entered the NFL, they have 2 championships.  That equals the number that the Packers have during that same time frame.

Okay, cool, so if we're going start stat counting when NFL Teams enter the league, then GB still has.....wait for it.....13!  🏆

The Saints enter the 2022 off-season without a head coach or a long-term solution at quarterback. They are also projected to be $71.6 million over the salary cap.

QB sucks. Team sucks. Salary cap hell....  Sean Payton: "Peace out."

What a guy.  Does anyone think he'd be retiring if the team made the playoffs and Taysom Hill looked like a promising young QB? When the going gets tough, Sean Payton gets going.

2 Super Bowls in almost fifty years? What’s that like?

Great offensive play caller. One of the best during his tenure with his time with the Saints. In the NFL. Got fawked a few times but who didn’t under Turd Goodell.

Hate to see him move on but it’s time. His mentor Parcels did the same. Wish him the best. Thank you Coach. Been a fun and crazy ride. Who Dat!!?

One of my favorite Payton lines in his book after the SB was how after we lost in Chicago NFC championship game his first year here. They got off the plane that night and were heading home. Thousands of Saints fans lined up on the airport service rd to welcome them. In the cold and rain at midnight after the loss. When he saw us he couldn’t believe how much the fans and city gave thanks. He said something along the lines of… This is incredible. Holy sh!t!!! We lost!

Fast forward to the NFC championship game against the Vikings,  thirteen fans showed up to greet the Vikes that night.  Payton, “One more than was in that huddle!” 🤟🏿

Yup. Even dumber was Al Davis interviewing Payton first for his first head coaching job there. Payton gets off the plane and Davis people pick him up and bring him to Al’s office at the stadium. Instead of bringing Sean to a nice restaurant and show him the town and then have the meeting the following day, All orders KFC for all in the boardroom. KFC??? Payton said he knew immediately “No fawking way im coming here!!!”

Goes to New Orleans a few days later and gets the royal treatment from Benson. Mind you, this town was fawked post Katrina. Reopening the Super Dome and a myriad of many other problems. No QB. Where did he go? The rest is history. Brees, when he couldn’t throw the ball ten yards down the field after his shoulder surgery. Sabin chooses Cullpepper. Genius.

I see your Sean Payton and raise you with Bill Bellicheck with a Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi kicker. I’m all in.

Hey, no doubt.  This organization has been a dumpster fire for literally 75% of it's existence.

The great Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre have played in Green Bay for 34 of the 46 years... and they have the same amount of rings as the Bucs who have the 2nd worst winning percentage in the NFL since then.  *cough cough*
