Are you freaking kidding?  The dude is about our lone bright spot this year.   He and Melendez went yard tonight.   And Witt is second in the majors on his average homerun distance this year.  He is coming on right now and doesn't need a demotion.

Oh, homerun distance. I didn’t see that on the stat sheet. Never mind.

He’s on pace for about 20 - 25HR’s. But they will all be really far.

Witt needs to go back down.

They rushed him through the system for reasons which I'll never understand.  He played less than 40 games in rookie league ball at age 19 in 2019.  After no ball in 2020, they start him off in Double-A where he played 60 game there and in Triple-A.  The kid has less than 750 plate appearances in minor league ball.  He had a .936 OPS in those games.  For reference, Mike Trout had an OPS of .942 in over 1300 plate appearances.

Why did you choose 7 games? Usually people use round numbers as a gage.

He's like 21 and hasn't even filled out his frame.   The kid has a glove.   Has tremendous speed and range.   Has tremendous power and he's figuring it out.   He doesn't need a demotion, he's here to stay.

I never said he needed demoted...  I am just saying the long home run doesn't matter...

Not you, but someone else who is not watching the games and is just hoping for monster fantasy stats, not understanding what he has been doing did, and that's what led to me saying anything about it.

I should watch more. I might miss a really far home run every 50 at bats.

Going into last night he was 9 for 47 in his last ten games, with 7 rbi and 2 hr. That’s on fire? I’m dreading the slump then.

Yes when you include last night add hits a hr and rbi and the play he made at shortstop.

Really? We haven't been relevant for some time and I still pay attention like it's 2015.

The Cardinals' top prospect, Nolan Gorman is tearing it up in AAA. He's hit 11 HRs already. He currently plays second base, transitioned from third when they traded for Arenado. Their current second baseman, Tommy Edmon can play short if they decide that DeJong needs to be moved or sat and they might call Gorman up to play second or even DH.

Depending on your league rules, he could be a steal right now if you can stash minor league players.

Gorman got called up last week and went

:

AB R H HR RBI SB AVG OBP OPS
  10 4 5 0 1 0 .500 .583 1.283

Hope you fantasy players listened.

Let me know how he does when he faces MLB pitchers.

As per Bobby Witt... I've seen "last 7", "last 10", "raking", "hot".  So, I look him up...

Last 7 (Slashline): .208 / .286 / .458

Last 14: .189 / .254 / .472

Last 28:  .233 / .286 / .456

.... um, that's not "hot" or "raking".

I get it, but he has a great swing and puts up big power numbers. A guy like that is worth a roster spot on any fantasy team.

You've just described like 50% of this hitting prospects in the last 40 years.  The massive majority never panned out.

OK. Here's a thought, if you play Fantasy Baseball pick him up or don't. I was just trying to give a heads up on a hot prospect

I do play fantasy baseball and I do know about him... quite a bit actually.  As a Pirates fan, keeping up with the minor leagues is usually more productive.  That said, in 90% of the cases like Gorman, it's best to hang on to who you have and let the desperate people jump on guys like him, Rutschman, & Cruz.  After about 2 or 3 weeks, they'll be back on the waiver wire again and I'll have an extra 2 to 3 weeks to ferret out my roster and see what options I have.

Gorman probably isn't a guy I'd look to get... this year.

another homer tonight.  Next ab hits a routine grounder to short, two hopper, gets down the line and is called safe.  replay shows he was out, but no way it should have been that close.  Next inning he goes out and makes a great defensive play over his shoulder.

I guess my point isn't necessarily "lighting it up" with his bat, but his play is showing he belongs here, when I was calling out HT for saying they need to send him back down.

better?
