Prime Rib

Recommended Posts

At the end of the day, out of all the beef you could eat, how does this rank? I mean, I like it well done. And I usually like most my meat not well done.   Just seems like a trash course thats served to white trash on cruise ships and Vegas buffets. Seems to me far too much horseradish. And any cut that is a featured product at a strip club? Well you got to wonder.

I'd have to think that most actual chefs turn their noses up at this offering.

They are turning their noses up because you ask for it well done.

Uh-huh. Again, most places don't seem to be able to get it done right.

My wife and I have perfected a roasted prime rib w\mustard sauce recipe, it's incredible, cooked to medium rare perfection. Borrowed it from my grandpa. One of my favorite meals.

I can really like prime rib, but I’ll rarely order it when out. I have probably made 1000s of them, and can do it easily at home.  When out, I like to order items I don’t have time to prepare at home.

The thing I adore about my mom's prime rib? Really solid chefs understand that you can't make Yorkshire pudding without prime rib. I don't care if you want to try to substitute grease, oleo, ghee, fat , butter whatever. I would trade my brother ginormous slices of prime rib for Yorkshire pudding. And as far as I'm concerned? I won every time.

But there's a serious technique.

And Yorkshire pudding? When done well? Is a f****** art form.

Any jackass can bake meat.

I’ve had some amazing prime rib but most of it is pretty mediocre. Even at the same restaurant I’ve had a couple amazing experiences and a couple so-so ones

I don’t have a lot of prep time these days so I’ll order items that more elaborate sauces and sides.

Oven Roasted Red Meat just doesn’t bring it.  I’m a fan of a good meatloaf but just sayin’

Beef is made for an open fire.

Prime rib seems so braggatory.  It's like the great northern bean of the meat family.  Get over yourself.

I don't really like prime rib that much.  I've never ordered it.  I'll eat it if it's what served.

If you reverse sear it on the grill, you get the best of both worlds.

A  ribeye is my steak choice. I've never ordered prime rib in a restaurant but I've done a couple on my smoker that were fantastic.
