Do you have extra fuel on hand?

Probably a good time to. It appears the much less talked about diesel shortage is about to cause a lot of trouble. I had fuel stored but need to replenish it after using it up during moving (not wanting to transport several 5 gallon gas cannisters). 

I'm thinking this is the pre-rush time, where you'll feel like less of a jerk contributing to the problem if you act now.

If there’s some huge shortage a few gallons aren’t going to do squat.

If it’s so bad you need to get hundreds and hundreds of gallons saved up, well guess what, it ain’t gonna amount to sh1t.

Now I’m not talking about gardens and farms. That’s a little different where it’s theoretically sustainable. I mean everybody’s gonna come for you but that’s what you’ve got the Arsenal for—am I right??!

But gasoline that doesn’t last forever and won’t replenish itself? What’s even the point?

The stock I had before was to be able to do a bigger move amidst a gas shortage. Just in case.

But it could help if you need to go secure other things to set yourself up for a little while.

Yeah, Shimmer is a great song too.  I've always particularly loved Hemorrhage though.  Back when I actually had a voice box, I felt like my singing voice was closest to Brett Scallions here.  Plus it's about the lead songwriter's grandma slowly dying of cancer, which is close to me both for my dad and my personal journey.  I'm lucky that so far it doesn't seem too late for me.

Just by virtue of having chainsaws, mowers, golf cart, boat, dirt bikes,etc I have about 30 gallons of gas on hand at any time. In real survival mode, I would run my small generator in intervals for a long time to keep fridges and freezers cold. Also, I could travel long distance on a dirt bike.  I have a lot of propane available too.  I wouldn't call myself a pepper, but I just happen to have stuff  on hand that would aid in survival.

I always try to keep a five gallon jug full.  Mainly for running my lawn mower or my generator if power ever goes down due to weather.  Always have one extra propane tank full on hand too.  

Other than that, no.   Seems like overkill.  We always grab an extra bag of rice or can of soup just to stock the pantry.  Not a "prepper" per se in the least, but don't want to be caught with my pants down totally.

If things really go off the rails I'll go out at night and fill up my fuel jugs with my neighbors gas.

You cannot store fuel.  That is the one thing that even if you owned an underground storage tank, you would be out of so quickly.  Say you go buy ten 5-gallon gas cans and store them, where?  In your apartment?  Really?  And whoopideedoo.  You have fifty gallons of gas to run what?  Your Honda Spree?  Stop.

Preppers crack me up.  Where the fock do you think everyone is going when it gets really bad?  Once every single store is looted, which would take literally hours across the country.  They are eventually finding you and your sh1t.  You are 65 and overweight and you have a garden and you walk with a limp and here come the masses.  Have fun fending them off.  

Like you and your solar panels are going to keep you alive indefinitely.  No.  

You should have spent that money on cocaine and hookers.

I keep it full and use Stabil. That gives me a half day that the generator can run without needing fuel if the wife or kids have to start it. If I feel the need, I can always loosen the fuel line, drain the tank, and use the fuel in something else.

Yeah, this is kind of silly. Im not a prepper (how many of you have "bug out bags" ). I'm probably similar to KSB, minus the gas siphon..... if things get so bad you need to siphon gas from your neighbors, you won't be able to pull it off anyway even at night.

But sure, I keep more TP than I need, rice, some canned goods but its really more in the event of a covid type situation where everyone decides that 'wash your hands' means 'buy all the toilet paper'.. hell, I couldn't find plain inexpensive rice for months. Or when the dummies ransack the stores when they hear about a 5 inch snow storm....

Stocking up on gas never crossed my mind and really doesn't make any sense. The amount of gas a normal person would be able to store and that's pretending it lasts forever, would make almost no difference. I can't wrap my head around the idea of storing gas specifically for a long move. That is oddly specific and seems like way more trouble than it's worth. If you knew you were moving a month or two in advance and figured gas prices were going to continue to rise, so you got some extra now, I guess good job, but at the same time still a lot of effort to save 20 bucks. 

and no, I don't consider having a jug of gas for your mower and other tools and your generator to be stocking gas. everyone who owns their home should have that.

It was enough fuel to go a little over 1K miles. Not to save money but in case there was a national shortage once everything came together for the move. 

Now, I feel secure (not that it means I am) with a fill-up on hand, and cycling through it.
