I have a cub cadet 42 inch xt1 that needs its blades sharpened.

I got the same exact one, just got it a month ago, love it.  Replaced my 20 year old Simplicity that was falling apart.

Doing the first oil change this weekend with the 300 hour synthetic.

Its been a good tractor..3 yrs old.  Taking the deck off can be a pain...all them damn clips.  Get an impact wrench to take blades off.  Let the spindles cool before using the washout port or they will suck in water and rust quick.

My grandpa from Altoona, PA always calls his riding lawnmower a tractor.

Although, to me a tractor starts at a small Kubota with PTO drive/bucket.

I have a 46 in cub xt2 with locking diff and heavy duty deck.  I need a bucket.  Love Steiner’s but may get a kubota.

A few years ago they put a Kubota dealer on the way to school.  Every day I would tell my kids it was a sushi joint and we need to go there, they were all excited.  Took them months to figure out it was machinery.

I know the difference. I’m not talking a lawn tractor.  That’s what I have now and need more.

I know in the past you have made fun of how much research I do, but if i was in your shoes I would join a tractor forum like this one.  Generally you will get the most helpful information from actual owners. The forum seems fairly active with hundreds of posts from May.

If you google "best small tractor" you get articles that are practically useless, like this one.

Good luck in your search

You looking for a small tractor like a Kubota or Farmall?

I was gonna tag you and mention that Hawkeye is prob the resident expert on tractors.

I've got a small Kubota (40hp maybe?)  that I mainly moves bales around with in a horse pasture.

I'm certainly not an expert on them but I am around them all day, every day.

Kubota is probably the most popular for small hobby farms and general use around larger yards.

John Deere 410K. You can get a decent used one for under $60,000. It will be able to do whatever you need except cut grass.

Need a tractor that can handle a hoe.  I assume Kubota, New Holland, JD all have their pro’s and con’s.
