'Hostage' situation: Abortion protesters breached security outside AZ Senate building, lawmaker says

Recommended Posts

Here we go.....Insurrection anyone? We need a committee put together immediately and book some television prime time spots for a one sided view of this atrocity.

Arizona state lawmakers were forced to finish voting in a secure room in the Capitol

Law enforcement officers in Phoenix, Arizona used tear gas to break up a sizable group of protesters outside the state's Senate building following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn the landmark abortion ruling Roe v. Wade.

"Protesters threatened to break the AZ Senate entryway glass," Republican Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers tweeted, as members were in the middle of voting on a series of bills.

The situation escalated into a "hostage" situation as lawmakers were instructed not to exit the building, Republican Arizona State Senator Kelly Townsend said.

The Republican Caucus of the State Senate later called the protest an attempted "insurrection."

"We are currently there being held hostage inside the Senate building due to members of the public trying to breach our security," Townsend tweeted Friday night. "We smell tear gas and the children of one of the members are in the office sobbing with fear."

"I expect a J24 committee to be created immediately," she added, referencing the January 6 committee that is investigating the breach of the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

According to the lawmakers, law enforcement officers then deployed tear gas to disperse the crowds and regain control of the building.

"Crowd was dispersed with tear gas." Rogers added, noting the protests were still continuing and the situation remained "very dangerous."

Nobody at the DC capital building was held hostage.

Looks like the tables are turning.

Silly man, don't you know that there can only be political violence and insurrection if someone is waving a "Trump" flag in the background.     No Trump flag = it didn't happen.     Haven't you learned anything from the last 2+ years?

Senators can bring their kids to work now?

I'm guessing so. They can bring stephen colbert in after hours to areas they are not approved to be, so why not their kids?

I could see bringing kids after hours, but not during hours unless they have on site daycare or something

Capitals are just public buildings. It's not like it's the CIA headquarters or the Pentagon.

But this situation is simply a way bigger deal than the selfie fest. That is for sure.

I’m more just talking about the Senators not being able to get much work done with their kids there.

In what universe was this worse?

Will this situation trigger AOC's PTSD?

No. it was a left wing cause. It empowers her. PTSD only hits her if conservatives protest.

The death cult is sure angry over all of this. Covid and,Ukraine can only satisfy their death thirst for so long, abortion was the gift that kept on giving.

Well, the Jan 6 was about what the courts wouldn’t do. This is about what they did. This actually went through our process. It’s much worse.

As long as one picture was taken or it was streamed on Twitch or something it's all good.

The bored libs are fine with this.

Yeah, all of a sudden their biggest problem in life is no big deal if it happens in another area of the country. And it's way worse. All of a sudden the whiners go silent.

So people inside a building were held hostage by people that were locked outside of said building?  Yeah, I’m not sure you know what hostage means.

If they leave they would be killed. Held against their will because their captors want something. Hostage.

Violence against abortion providers significantly rose in 2021, according to a report from the National Abortion Federation published Friday.

The report, which measures a variety of acts of violence and disruption, found the most significant increases were in stalking, blockades, hoax devices/suspicious packages, invasions and assault and battery, compared to 2020’s findings.

Vandalism and assault and battery continue to be the most common offenses, but other acts have seen major jumps, with stalking increasing 600% from 2020, according to the report.

Crickets from the bored conservatives when this was going on in 2021...

So violence was okay then but not now.....wonder what changed?

The riots of 2020 numbed us to violence until this isurrection. We need prime time media to hold biden accountable. Countless special hearings.

Lol. They didn’t even try.  Kinda like the Deshaun Watson accusers.  You’re a joke.

If 100s of people surround and threaten you and you don't try to leave because you know you will get killed if you do, and you stay put, that means there is no threat?

It may have been a “threat,” but nothing actually happened.  No protesters got inside unlike J6.  For example, one of the threats here was that they supposedly threatened to break the glass.   Well that actually happened on J6 (and is what got Ashli Babbitt killed).

It would somewhat make sense if you talked about how you think these police did a better job, or heck even if you think both of these events were NBD.  But you’re just talking out of your ahole.  If you think this was bad, so was J6.  Because J6 was worse, and it’s not even an argument.

It was an insurrection against the capital.

I don't care about this.  I didn't care about Jan 6 either.  There is one difference though, these people are there on their own because they believe deeply in it.  The Jan 6 fools were duped by the president who wanted them to do more than take selfies.
