If they called 36 last season and then they put an emphasis on that and it goes up to 97 times or whatever, that's more. Besides, that's only part of the story any way. It could very easily be that some of the PI or defensive holding calls will be called illegal contact instead. . Was there joy in your heart last season as you watched WRs run free, drawing only 40% of the illegal contact contact penalties they had averaged for the previous 20 years? Everyone who's watched football for more than one year is used to the idea of about 100 such penalties in a season. Usually that happens in exhibition and they call it really tight to get teams used to it. it will start to loosen up once the regular season starts. but likely wont go back to what it was last year.
